New GM to re-energize the city of Cleveland.

Post by Dqchen87 »

Everything is going well to the Cleveland sports industry: Johnny Manziel being drafted by the Browns and Ohio's very own LeBron coming back to home in NBA.
To continue the momentum, Cleveland Cavaliers appoint former Denver Nuggets GM, David, to lead the CSL franchise.
"I had a wonderful time with the Nuggets organization. Brought in tons of talents and created one of the best PG/C combo. Unfortunately we got hit the injury bug and had to rebuild. Nevertheless, it has been an rewarding experience that will help me lead the Cavs

(Spot lights is now on GM David to see how he will shape the team)

Overview:
The team is has an interesting mix of young talents (Irving/Waiters/Thompson) and veterans (Deng/Varejao/Hawes).
It is still a couple years away from contending but certainly too talented to join the Wiggins sweepstake.
The goal from David is simple: play hard and grow.

(Wiggins is not part of GM David's plan for the season)

Point Guard:
The face of the franchise is the best 70 year of in the nation, uncle dew.
Image
Uncle Dew brings the rare combination of killer crossovers, limitless shooting range and gym rat motivation.
GM David has already aligned with the Marketing department and planned out campaigns featuring Krylie Irving in the near future.
Irving will stay as a Cavalier.

Shoot Guard:
Dion Waiter is an enigma. He has all the right tools and projected to be a two-way player.
But can he reach his potential? Can he be taught to focus on fundamentals or will he shoot us out of the games.
It is a project that specially intrigues GM David.
Image
(Can Dion Waiter compliment Irving?)

Small Forward:
Luol Deng came to the Cavs part of the Bynum trade with Chicago Bulls. He brings a much needed veteran defensive leadership presence. But he is also an 14 mil expiring contract.
Image
(We will see what happens with Deng on the Cavs.)

Power Forward:
We love Tristan Thompson.
He reminded one of GM David's favorite player on the Nuggets team (Kenneth Faried) but slightly better. 8-)
We don't need him to score 20 pts (he certain can), just bring double digit rebounds (2-3 off rebs), a couple of blocks and steals and high FG.
Image
(Thompson will be feature on the Cavs).

Center:
GMs around the league the already reached out to both Anderson Varejao and Spencer Hawes.
Frankly, we like this AV & Hawes combo.
One brings the traditional rebounding and hustle, while the other brings balanced game and outside shooting.
They are both hot commodities.
Image
(We like the AV & Hawes combo but we are certainly open to move one)

Bench:
Jarret Jack, the jack of all trade, combo guard that will fit in nicely pair with Irving and Waiters.
Probably average 20 mins a game, solid player.
Image

Anthony Bennett, a formal 1st overall pick.
Since we are not exactly contending at the moment, GM David hopes to develop him and see if he can shape to a nice contribution in the future.
Image

This team is certainly entertaining with a nice core of young & talented players with trade assets.
We are not expected to contend for a championship, but we will play hard and grow as a team.

Good summary! Like you said Kyrie will be a stud. His combination of shooting and driving is really rare. On Top you a really good cast around him. It wont be enough for the Title, but you are good for a deep playoff run.
Good luck David.

Thanks Dennis!
I need to be patient with this team.
Never a fan of tanking so look forward to how far this team can achieve.

Young, up and coming team.
You have to be very patient as you said. If Bennett develops into a nice player and you make a good play in the FA your team will be good to go.

But with Deng, Varejao, and specially Irving, I think your team has what it takes to advance to Postseason. Going to be tought to achieve more than first round exit but Irving and Co. may surprise lots of people.

A solid young core and that is great to have. Make a few smart moves here and there and this team will be on the rise faster than most think.

Duval -- O'Neale -- Okeke -- Reid -- N'Diaye
