Coach Hiring Changes
Coach Hiring Changes
With DDS22 giving us the option to finally set all teams to the same owner budget, we can now give more flexibility to this coach hiring process and will do this fully in game and not manual anymore.
Proposal
- Every team has the same set budget that accounts for both coaching and training staff (with a set total hard cap for coaching/training staff).
- Teams will be able to offer coaches (HC through A3) any salary they want and there will no longer be set values for each level. This means you can decide to spend big on a HC at the expense of the rest of your staff or go cheap and save money for a more well-rounded coaching and training staff.
- This will allow teams to finally get to have a good training staff if they want to prioritize that.
- This will start NEXT offseason so that we can do this in the new game.
Options (please vote)
Option 1: Keep coach contracts the same length as they are now (this benefits those who really want to keep their coaching staff, but will mean you do not get to upgrade your training staff)
Option 2: During the transition, we set all coaches to have 1 year contracts. This means that everyone will be starting over and using the new system next year.
Fire Simmer: I literally don't care. Just get me to the off-season already...
Please vote so that we can have this information to use during the transition and let us know if you have any questions.

Re: Coach Hiring Changes
I like option 2 but honestly I’d vote Fire Simmer all the way
All in all, this would give everyone a fresh start for Coaching Staffs and with the use of staff budget now it would only be fair to have every available coach on a pool and let us spend whatever we want to get the ones we want
And no, I’m not saying that because my staff sucks, my coach is fairly nice himself. I just feel like having all of them in a pool Would be fun and enticing

Re: Coach Hiring Changes
Fire simmer for sure. My question is how much does coaching staff impact the players in this new engine? Because I feel like right now/in the past the coaches don't really impact too much besides maybe development? I wasn't even sure on that to be honest.

I voted for Option 2. Seems more hectic and exciting.

You can’t see in-game potentials, that’s for surehardenwithnod wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 2:21 pm Fire simmer for sure. Your coaches will provide you analysis on your players and other players as well. Depending on how we’re going to move forward with the potential ratings (whether it will be shared or not) coaches will be more important than ever as they’ll be able to guide you through player’s potentials more or less with their reports.

I'd go with option 1 as I'd like to keep my staff for as long as I can

Re: Coach Hiring Changes
I guess this really all depends on the potential ratings being released or not. If they are being released, I don't really mind either way. If they are not going to be released and we are going to use the in-game feature of scouting reports from our coaching staff, then I would vote Option 1.

Re: Coach Hiring Changes
While I do think the feature is cool with no being able to see the potential ratings, it does put new GMs at a disadvantage for not having scouts.
At a minimum, all ratings that GMs can see now will be fully released to every GM in the league and posted on the forum.

Re: Coach Hiring Changes
If we don't have potentials available, then I for sur will say option 2, since I focus on development rating only when I made my hires. But I hope potentials will be available, as I think it will be nice to have a fair view of things for everyone.

Re: Coach Hiring Changes
I prefer no potentials as then it actually matters what coaches you hire. Without that, I wouldn't care about coaches to be honest and it becomes the older DDS games all over again.

We can start a separate vote around that (although I know at least 5 people who have very strong opinions about seeing everything).

Re: Coach Hiring Changes
As for this vote, I'm going to make it up to each GM. If you want to reset your coach hires for next year, we will allow you to do so.
If you want to keep your current staff and not have a good training staff, you can do that.
