Rockets Add Two Wings In 2028 Draft
Pick 32: SF Robert Woodard II, 6'7 230lb from Mississippi State
The Rockets added Woodard for his versatility. "We believe in RW2's ability to D up, rebound, force turnovers, and just play smart basketball on that end. We'll be working with him offensively trying to get him a bit more efficient, but he's got tools as an extra ball handler. Welcome to Houston," said Rockets GM KW in a press conference Friday following the draft. Woodard, 20, played two seasons for Miss. St, averaging 11.4 points and 6.6 rebounds, as well as a block and a steal per game as a sophomore.
Pick 39: SF Nahziah Carter, 6'6 205 from Washington
The Rockets added Jay-Z's nephew as a 3&D guy similar to what they have in Damyean Dotson. Carter is likely a career role player. "You can never have too many 3 and D guys", says KW, "We like Carter's defense, and believe he's almost there with his shot. Welcome aboard." The 22-year-old averaged 12.2 points and 4.9 rebounds as a junior before turning pro.
There is an expectation that the Rockets plan to bring on a couple undrafted rookies as well. "We're going to be tight on room under the hard cap trying to bring back as much of last season's roster as possible. The most mutually beneficial way of filling out the roster is with 2nd round and undrafted talent, who are hungry for an opportunity, we can't wait to see what these guys have in store for us."

Nice draft overall. Carter, if he can shoot well enough, will be a valuable piece as a 3&D bench option.
