Nuggets Acquire Beverley as New Starting PG



The Denver Nuggets announced that they have acquired point guard Patrick Beverly from the Sacramento Kings in exchange for promising rookie guard Joe Jackson and two second round picks.

"We love what he brings to the table," head coach Brian Shaw said. "He's just a great defender and such a feisty guy, we see him as a great fit in our starting lineup."

The team has been looking for a starting PG since the beginning of the season, with guard Mo Williams much more productive in a backup role.

"We believe Beverley can give us what we want at that position," Nuggets GM Parka said. "We feel like a major need has been filled up."

The move is right in line with the team's focus on reinventing its defensive mentality, led by Shaw.

"We wanna get tougher," Shaw said. "Defense is our main thing right now."

Team sources say that the team is not done yet and is likely to be busy all the way down to the trade deadline.

Do you ever sleep? Seems like you are always talking trades with somebody lol. I like Beverly and with scorers in your starting lineup, Mo Williams is really best suited for the backup role to lead the bench scoring with Hickson. This is just classic OP rounding out his roster.

Haha. Well it helps that I know what I want, as well as what players fit into what I wanna do.

From there, it's easy. I don't mind overpaying for someone I really like or need.

Perfect PG for your system and you didn't really give anything up. Great move and I like this move better than the Klay one in the end due to that fit.

Bev should run the offense and get the rock to the scorers as needed, hell you may have been better off keeping Batum with the addition of Beverly.

I said this in the Facebook chat and I really believe it but beverly is nothing more then a good reserve pg. Too many good pgs in this league and beverly will get exposed.
