Nick Johnson succeeding Vitor Faverani?

Post by Chilikonkarne »

Following excellent article from GreenBear and the mid-year edition rookie ranking (viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1294), it looks like Spurs rookie Nick Jonhson is going out of his way to reach the beginner award.

Indeed, Johnson is currently averaging 15,9pts, 3,9rbds, 1,9ast, 0,9stl, 1,4blk a game in only 29 minutes with excellent percentages (45 FG%, 41% 3P%). In addition, Nick is a lockdown defender.
He is probably already close to the top10 SG in the league and should be within few years a regular all-star if he continues to progress.
Futur looks bright in the Texas where his duo with MKG should allow the Spurs to build around. Next FA will be crucial with more than 40 milions to invest.

Steal of the 2014 draft?

We have to recognize the great job of the Spurs GM during last draft. They picked him at the 17th position when his main contenders for the award were all selected in the lottery :

J.Parker #1
B.Cotton #14
W.Tavares #7
A.Gordon #3

He is definitely a surprise and playing great for the Spurs. Still think this is Parkers award to lose though.

I would actually vote for Johnson. He's playing very well on both ends of the floor.

Clearly there is someone pushing Parker for the RoY award. Man, great pick on this one. Johnson looks like he will be scary good for a long time!
