2017 CSL Awards - Results
The voting has closed and I want to thank everyone for participating in the voting. All but one GM voted, which is a great showing and something we want to continue into next year. Let's get to the meat and potatoes and announce who won the season awards for 2017...
The 2017 CSL Most Valuable Player was:
James Harden
Top 5 Vote Totals (First Place Votes):
1. James Harden, HOU - 98 total points (13)
2. Paul George, ORL - 83 total points (13)
3. Kemba Walker, DET - 13 total points (0)
4. Blake Griffin, NY - 11 total points (0)
5. Derrick Rose, CHI - 10 total points (0)
Other players receiving First Place Votes: Jabari Parker, PHI (1)
Notes: Last years MVP, Anthony Davis, received only 6 total points this year with no 1st place votes.
The 2017 CSL Defensive Player of the Year was:
Okaro White
Top 5 Vote Totals (First Place Votes):
1. Okaro White, CHA - 40 total points (6)
2. Otto Porter, SAC - 30 total points (4)
3. Kemba Walker, DET - 26 total points (5)
4. Serge Ibaka, DET - 22 total points (2)
5. Anthony Davis, NOP - 21 total points (3)
Other players receiving First Place Votes: Paul George, ORL (2), Eric Bledsoe, PHX (2), Nerlens Noel, PHI (1), Andre Drummond, TOR (1), Joakim Noah, CHI (1), Dwight Howard, LAC (1)
Notes: The DPOY vote was much more spread out than the MVP, which was incredibly top heavy.
The 2017 CSL Rookie of the Year was:
Wesley Saunders
Top 5 Vote Totals (First Place Votes):
1. Wesley Saunders, OKC - 82 total points (15)
2. TJ McConnell, LAL - 30 total points (4)
3. Trevor Lacey, GS - 26 total points (5)
4. Joel Embiid, GS - 22 total points (2)
5. George DePaula, CLE - 21 total points (3)
Other players receiving First Place Votes: Noah Vonleh, OKC (2)
Notes: Saunders cleans up the ROY vote behind an exceptional rookie year. Golden State had two players in the top 5 for rookie of the year signaling a potential Sacramento/Phoenix rise to power in the next couple seasons.
The 2017 CSL Sixth Man of the Year was:
Isaiah Thomas
Top 5 Vote Totals (First Place Votes):
1. Isaiah Thomas, OKC - 44 total points (5)
2. Alex Len, PHX - 32 total points (4)
3. Doug McDermott, ORL - 31 total points (5)
4. Jimmy Butler, DET - 30 total points (4)
5. Luol Deng, MEM - 22 total points (2)
Other players receiving First Place Votes: Trevor Lacey, GS (2), Bogdan Bogdanovic, BRK (2), Markieff Morris, MIN (1), Keifer Sykes (IND), Frank Kaminsky (1)
Notes: Typically a guard heavy category, Thomas ends up with the award, but not with Alex Len of Phoenix putting up a fight and snagging 4 first place votes.
The 2017 CSL Most Improved Player was:
Dante Exum
Top 5 Vote Totals (First Place Votes):
1. Dante Exum, UTA - 60 total points (8)
2. Okaro White, CHA - 52 total points (8)
3. Andrew Bynum, CHA - 45 total points (7)
4. Moe Harkless, CLE - 26 total points (2)
5. Nik Stauskas, DAL - 16 total points (1)
Other players receiving First Place Votes:Sam Dekker, NOP (1)
Notes: Although placing 3rd, Andrew Bynum was a reclamation project for the Hornets who is signed to a ridiculously team-friendly contract. RiotPunch did an excellent job with that very much under-the-radar move.
The 2017 CSL General Manager of the Year was:
Top 5 Vote Totals (First Place Votes):
1. emplep7, DET - 51 total points (6)
2. WillyJakkz, ORL - 41 total points (6)
3. Marcos_Beck, CHI - 38 total points (3)
4. (TIED) bt, SAC - 33 total points (4)
4. (TIED) BizGilWalker, HOU - 33 total points (3)
Other GMs receiving First Place Votes: 8timechamp, OKC (2), Dennis, BOS (1), Chilikonkarne, TOR (1), lakeshowak7, POR (1)
Thank you all again for a great regular season and an exciting playoffs so far! Looking forward to the changes for next year!

Re: 2017 CSL Awards - Results
Always fun to see who wins the award. MVP was a no-brainer in my opnion and the DPOY award was going to be a tight race regardless. I'm glad to see George DePaula get some ROY love and Moe Harkless make his way on to the MOP list. Congrats to Jon on being GM of the Year. That is always the most prestigious award you can win in any sim league.

I've nailed a good amount of that list haha
Congrats to all the winners and specially to Jon for continuing to improve the Pistons while making moves to shape them for a good future!
3rd in GM race and 5th with Rose at MVP (quite unexpected haha)
Thanks for a wonderful season guys, there is certainly more to come!

Glad to see Embiid and Lacey get some votes. No doubt Saunders was the ROY. He was excellent after going to OKC. Hopefully Embiid ratings will receive a huge bump next season

Re: 2017 CSL Awards - Results
Seems like I'm going to have to beat some suitors back with a stick this offseason when it comes to Len, ha. He was much more effective when coming off the bench for sure.
I agree with pretty much all of the winners for the most part. But man... there are some oddball votes for just about every category.
Congrats to all of the winners! Especially the GM award going to Jon, and the MVP going to Harden/Biz.

Surprised and pleased to see McConnell get 2nd in RotY voting. He was always going to be the least likely of my core to be traded.

Man, how did White beat OP for DPOY?
More steals, less blocks, better stopping %, better PA/SF, best defensive team. Funny seeing the 28th ranked in points allowed have the DPOY.
