Warriors Reach 50 Wins; Face Houston In Round 1
In a battle of the benches against the Sacramento Kings, the Golden State Warriors were able to notch their 50th win on the final day of the season. While it isn't the ultimate goal, it is still quite the feat for a team that went 34-48 and 40-42 the past two seasons respectively.
Golden State played some great ball during the middle of the season, but then had some injuries down the stretch which saw them struggle the past month or so. Thankfully, the Warriors enter the first round fully healthy which is great news. Their first round opponent will be those sneaky Houston Rockets, who are probably better than their 45-37 record given the amount of rest their top players receive. They're also a much different looking team after their deadline deals that saw them bring in Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Devonte Graham (and a new bench). In a full season, the Rockets would probably finish ahead of the Warriors if they played their starters all year. The cost of their resting though is that they'll have to win at least one game on the road to take the series. The Warriors meanwhile have been together for some time now and will be leaning on their familiarity and consistency to get them through the first round.
Preview:
PG: Coby White vs Malik Monk
SG: PJ Dozier vs Devonte Graham
SF: Jake Layman vs Justice Winslow
PF: Marquese Chriss vs Michael Kidd Gilchrist
C: Chimezie Metu vs Karl Anthony Towns

50 is nothing to sneeze at as its hard to do. This might be one of the better series in this first round throughout the league so I'm looking forward to it.

What a turnaround you have had in your few years as the Warriors GM. Tough first round opponent, should be a close series.

Yeah this should be a great series to watch out for. Houston has been keeping it's trump cards all season long. We will finally see them at full force now. I'm very intrigue on how this series pans out. Good luck to both teams.

One of the best rebuilding jobs since I joined the league.
So steady, every year one step forward.
Good signings, selecting fitting players in the draft ...
And already getting to 50 wins!! Great job
In Houston you got a tough team in the first round and it should be fun to see the younger player in action against a bit more eperienced Rockets. First class match up. Good luck to both and hopefully no injuries.

Thanks all! Hopefully we do better than last years showing against the Suns lol. The Rockets are a hell of a team though.. definitely not your typical 6 seed.
