The Young Raptor

Post by blackice »

Sources out of the Raptors camp have reported that longtime Raptor Michael Young - has resigned to a team friendly deal starting at 12M per, on a 3 yr deal with a team option on the 4th year. This also coincides with Justin Patton and at that point it appears the franchise will truly start their long awaited rebuild. Young is a top 5 defensive anchor when you take into account rebounding, blocks and STOP%. He allows the teams stifling perimeter defense to funnel the apposing guards into a brick wall and bringing him back insures the team should be elite defensively and one of the top rebounding teams. He is also an efficient inside shooter, and is coming off a 17/11 w/ 1.6 blks season.

Nice to see. I GM similarly where I find a guy I like try to build continuity around them and see their careers out. Wish I could have seen John Collins out the same way.

Bringing Young is a must and yeah having him 3yrs guaranteed contract which coincides with Patton is a good plan indeed.

Great plan of starting the rebuild in 2035. You’ll have all your picks by then which is really nice to see.
I think you have some keepers and could improve at some areas to make this team truly competitive

Good to see that Michael found a good home :-)

And good planning ahead and make necessary moves to start a rebuild when the old core gets closer to retirement.

BI has gone full circle. Used to be one of the biggest traders in the league and is now content on sitting pat. I think the team needs to rebuild, but with half the league looking to rebuild and with you not having your picks the next two seasons makes that tough. I hope to see you all get back above .500 this year.
FINALLY a logical HC Rule our work is done

Young has been great for the Raptors. No harm here giving the team another season or two with tweaks, and hopefully Young doesn't decline too much before 33-34 and still have value to trade.
