The 2024 Free Agent Class - Unrestricted
The off-season is not too far away anymore. Teams who are not in the playoff picture should already look ahead.
I took the time and checked this years unrestricted free agents. The Hawks will not have any cap, but it is always good to know who is on the market.
And after a quick glance I have to say this years class is pretty disappointing compared to last years festival of stars.
Maybe I oversaw a few good players, but this is really just good enough for a farm team.
Here is the overview: https://www.keep-at-it.de/images/csl/24/urfa-2024.html
Also I did a quick glance over the salary situation and have a raw estimate about the max cap every team could have. The numbers are with team options declined and FA renounced
This number will not be this high for most of the teams, since only a few teams would want to renounce all his FA. But some teams could and maybe will.
Player options and picks are not considered.

Re: The 2024 Free Agent Class - Unrestricted
The RFA market is going to be massive, since that 2020 draft had starters into the 2nd round. I expect way more money to be spent there than here.
There won't be many maxes (does anybody on the UFA list command a max at all? And the star talent in the 2020 draft ends at Simmons and Milos), but this is going to be a great free agency for teams with cap looking for 3rd starter to high bench types.

Yeah, the UFA looks pretty weak, but the RFA class is going to be pretty loaded. Due to the RFA market, there might be some steals in this thin UFA market though.

Working on the RFA and that is right, much more talent there. But only for overpay ...
I think Kemba and Joel would be worth a max, question is for how many years.

Not too many good names here, but Wiggins, Jo Jo, Harrell will all probably fetch a pretty penny. Interested to see this RFA class.

Nice overview. We will probably save our cap space for the 2025 offseason, though, when Valanciunas contract is over. We could be big players then.

Add Tristan Thompson to the mix. We gonna let him go to focus on our three RFAs

Tristan would be easily #2 of PF!
And I can see the money going to the RFA and some of this old legs going for the vet min.

McConnell will be out there too. I would take him over Larkin at the very least, and I'd take him over Spanoulis as well, but I guess it depends on what kind of system you plan to run.

Re: The 2024 Free Agent Class - Unrestricted
We obviously won't have any cap room to work with given we're not letting Milos go anywhere.
Then we'll see about the rest.
I've had Harris enough to know his real value in terms of money, if someone goes wild it will certainly hurt more than help and we'll be looking to keep our guy but he's very replaceable.

I thought about McConnell but with his playing time it was not easy to rank. If I would have the choice to sign McConnel or Larkin I would would probably go with McConnel too, just with gut feeling.

Cool to see Span get some publicity. Next season to me just trying to figure out our style of basketball. Doubt well be active at all spending any money on Blake's farewell season.

With the new engine rolling around it is worth it to bet a max on Wiggins and embiid. You just don’t know yet if they will be way better in 19 - so potentially a good gamble.

Re: The 2024 Free Agent Class - Unrestricted
Interesting stuff...I’m sure Wiggins and Embiid will receive the Max. I’m curious to see how RFAs play out. Players like Gary Harris could end up going for cheap consolation prizes and become useful assets due to their lower salaries
