A lot of good things, on and off the court. On the court enhances some ratings, off the court (combined with others) increases the chances of player development.

i think they light up if a player has elite ratings in the relevant categories. as far as I know there's no added bonus or anything. We don't control those when creating a player.

Wolverine supposedly put a description of the player types into the 24 version. Maybe someone has it ...

Yeah be interesting to know what they are and what type of impact, if any, they have.

The only thing I understand is that personalities can gel (ex. performer and worrier) or clash (ex. mediator and artist), the latter which results in incident reports which in turn lower your player relationship %'s.

The question is then whether the relationship bars have any impact on performance or willingness to resign

Not on the first one, I don't know on the second one.

FWIW I did find this on the Wolverine forums from Gary, though more specifics were difficult to come by:

"a bad relationship with the other players could cause them to get fed up and leave when their contracts are up and yes when player attitudes drop their performance may as well"
