Player Potential Database
Now that we have unveiled the Player Potential Database (Thank you Andre!!), here are some things to know about it:
1. To access the Database, click the link next to the League File at the top of the forum named "Player Potential Database"
2. You can log in as your team using the same credentials you use to log into the game
3. The ratings you see here have a slight deviation for your team (for future seasons the deviation will be based on your coaching staff's ability to read potential).
4. You will see Shooting Ratings on a letter grade scale with A being elite and F being awful.
5. You have the ability to scout other teams as well. Know that the deviations are slightly greater when viewing another teams potentials, but not enough to make it inaccurate.
This allows those without the game to finally see potential ratings for once, but we are looking forward to hearing any feedback on the program.
And as always, let us know if you have any questions.

Re: Player Potential Database
Can we expound on what a slight deviation is or ate you intending to keep that vague? Are the shooting ratings position specific?

Re: Player Potential Database
I’d think of it similar to scouting deviations for shooting ratings. They aren’t huge deviations for this year. Future years will depend on your coaching staff though (we’ll explain more on that once we get there).

Re: Player Potential Database
Overall idea really great, but Shooting ratings as a grade doesn’t help at all as not in relation to position and therefore every player results in C C C C C. Great idea but honestly, this try definitely will confuse new joiner.

Re: Player Potential Database
DRFL can only jump in 4point steps. Helped to figure out roughly the formula due it not being the case, should be fixed though.

Re: Player Potential Database
Example why very confusing for new guys, unless you guys nefed shooting as well.
Bridges (was Elite inside dds3 etc): has C C inside
Fox: C C inside (mediocre inside)
Keldon: C C (awful inside)
-> what should new joiner think now.
Also, those ratings don’t help at all without rim and dunk rate.
We had the same problem in the football game that uses exactly the same for scouting during the draft. Potentially going for A+ A A- etc and making it position specific could help?

Re: Player Potential Database
Love it guys, I'm a fan of something to give an idea but not exact so great work.
The idea above isn't bad though and it could include pluses and minuses I guess as long as it's not too specific.

Re: Player Potential Database
Great job!
I was also going to suggest a few more grades, to break up all the Cs (my entire roster short of KAT and Thompson IV, is a C in FG_RA, that isn't right). Maybe not pluses AND minuses, but A+, A, B+, B, C+, C, D+, D, F gives you 9 tiers instead of just 5, which simply isn't enough to tell anything.
I would also suggest putting in DunkRate and RARate which are quite important and show absolutely nowhere in game. Those who haven't scouted have zero frame of reference of what they should be.

Re: Player Potential Database
I find that quite easy to figure out stuff. Fox and Bridges were elite at driving, not in inside shooting as it seems. Playing in an engine that doesn’t allow them to go to the post and drive at will anymore, they should be back to being average at best inside, which is only fair as it seems their ratings for inside scoring are on pair with league average.Dennis wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 4:24 am Example why very confusing for new guys, unless you guys nefed shooting as well.

Re: Player Potential Database
Not sure you checked all players. There is basically "no" PG above C. However, they still will be better than some because we are missing preference rates.Marcos_Beck wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 11:00 amI find that quite easy to figure out stuff. And yes I would say its pretty confusing to new joiner because lets be honest, we can see for the three named ones the inside shooting ratings in the FGI rating. So right now a 60 FGI rating player (Keldon) is graded the same as a 64 one (Fox) or a 67 one (Bridges).
PS: Also might be good to have current next to it. But right now you cant figure out of it if a player still has room to grow.

Re: Player Potential Database
We will add Dunk and RA ratings during this week.
Also a filter to look for a certain player and some time later a csv export.
Shooting ratings is noted and we will look into it.
The deviations are calculating based on the level of your coaches "evaluating potential".
Philadelphia has the best coaching staff in this regard, Boston has the lowest. Both teams will have slightly different deviations in their results.
Overall the difference should be not to high for any team.
Send us a PM if you think some player is off or with suggestions like the one from Dennis about the shooting ratings!! This back and forth in a forum thread with 10 different opinions is fine, but hard to follow.
A note for the shooting ratings:
They are intended a lot to help GM's decide how they want to change the preferences of their player. If you see a C for a player it means he shots at league avg level from this range. It should not hurt to let him shoot from there, if a player has an A in some area I would move the preferences a bit in this direction depending of how the other shooting ratings look.
Important: check the preseason shooting stats for that player and see if it aligns. The shooting rating in DDS not always leads to % I would expect from a player.
I personally value the data how he shot in game higher.

Re: Player Potential Database
Thanks for this, as this definitely helps. Adding +/- to the letter grades I think will help a lot, as of right now a lot of guys have same letter grade, but in reality their field goal ratings are actually a few points off, which is quite a big difference.
