Managing D-League Teams

Post by emplep7 »

Hi all,

This has been brought up in the past (and again recently), but we wanted to gauge the leagues interest in managing D-League teams. I will post a survey and some PROs and CONs for you all to help with your decision, but feel free to let us know if you have any questions.

PROS
- Another team to run
- You have full control to make sure your assigned players get PT
- Provides scouting for Free Agents
- Provides a testing ground for strategies

CONS
- Another team to run
- It adds more GMs to the GM list in the game (and once added they can't be removed from the list)

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS: Only .TEM files would be accepted (NO MANUAL DCs/STRAT CHANGES) and there would be no instructions allowed for any of these players, but every GM could control their D-League affiliate (and not another teams affiliate).

There could be other PROS/CONS that I'm missing so feel free to add those below too, but let us know what you think.

Human Controlled D-League Teams

Los Angeles Sea Dogs (LAL) - Stockton12
Erie Thunderbirds (ATL) - Flaming Homer
Rio Grande Rattlers (HOU) - KW
Stockton Royals (SAC) - bt
Sioux Falls Buckaroos (MIA) - Silogical
Texas Superstars (DAL) - sharkn20
Grand Rapids Wheelz (DET) - emplep7

Can we allow change votes? For myself couldnt care less as it doesnt do anything and I wouldnt use it anyway. But from simmer perspective, even if only putting in tems, I would say no to reduce work.

I don't see any cons to it as long as it's only .tem files. There's no extra work in that for a simmer.

I'd happily run Stockton.

Im not looking to be required to submit an additional .tem file just because other teams may want to utilize their D-League teams. As long as it's not a necessity, than I don't mind having D-League teams open to tinkering.

Agreed.
I wouldn't participate as I just wanna win in the real league. But could care less if others want to. As long as it doesn't put more work load on the admins.

Total waste of time if you ask me, but if other people get enjoyment out of it and it doesn't create more work for the league, have at it.

Awful idea. This let's the weak teams who suck in the CSL feel like they won a bonus prize. Not the real prize.

Id use it. The current system of sending players back and forth due to injuries and asking the simmers for playing time every time seems like a lot more work on the simmers.

It has no effect on player development from my tests. But I guess it'll show you what certain guys can do as the star player of a shit squad against shit competition. So there's that lol

With no real downside to having this option, we give it a try and allow GM's to manage their affiliate.

Please write Jon or me a PM if you want to have a login to mange the team. We will try to set up all accounts next weekend.

As an update, we now have 7 human-owned D-league teams (see the first post for the teams).

They are setup on the file moving forward, but if you have interest in owning your affiliate please PM Andre and myself and we will look to set you up throughout the week.

The D-League Standings and League Leaders have been added to the forum as well with the other links.

I'm not sure how I feel about having the league leaders up there, but its a good quick glance for how players are performing for the pro league GMs to look at if they are considering a FA.
