With all my scrubs on this team, I'm surprised I moved up to #2.

Thought we may have dropped after that road trip. The SOS doesn't lie either for our last 10 at 59%.

The Pistons are clearly a level above everyone else. After them, there is a pack of seven teams really close.

This agrees pretty well with the conclusions of my article. With one week difference in the stats being used, basically Denver replaces Phoenix and both rankings detected the Hawks below their actual position in the standings. I found that last thing really interesting and that may actually mean something. That being said, Atlanta is a very talented team with the potential to win the title. A seven-game series is always different to a regular season.

The Pistons just look so strong this season. Dominant performance.

Our fall was expected since we are struggling mightily after we traded Smart for depth. The team doesn't have the balance I was hoping for and also our defense took a hit, which I didn't see coming.
Biggest problem is the depth though, I was hoping Drummond, Wall, Murray can make up some of the production of player like Clarkson, sexton and McGary but so far that just doesn't work.

I've had this discussion with jon once, but I don't fully understand their dominance. I understand why they are an elite offensive team but I dont understand why they are so good defensively.

Gates and ntilikina are elite defensively, Williams is very good but to keep his value down he doesn't play him a lot. Sjj and parker are nothing special. Detroit is very efficient so that does allow them to get set defensively but I still wouldnt expect them to be this dominant.
FINALLY a logical HC Rule our work is done

The addition of Parker somehow was the missing piece it seems. Ever since he got traded to Detroit the team is clicking. Finally SJJ doesn't have to carry the offense every night.
On defense Jons team was great already last season. Our playoff series was just tough out D.

Yeah, agree on Detroit but I feel like in DDS, the mix is just super important and Detroit just have that mix pretty spot on at the moment.

Yeah, I was honest with you when I said not too much has changed from us outside of adding Parker and having Frank for a full season.

I'm not sure why we are performing so much better this season, but I know that the last two seasons in the playoffs teams just neutralized SJJ and then we were easy to beat since nobody else could consistently pick up the scoring load. I, like you, expected my offense to be much better this year with us taking a step back defensively, but like Ryan said this engine seems to favor that fit portion a good bit more than DDS3 and I somehow stumbled upon the right fit so far.

I'm a consistent playoff choker though, so none of this matters if we don't make some noise there.
