The Case for the most dominate big man in the CSL
So where do we start.....
Obviously our last season review article is outdated, but I wanted to get a quick article around the most dominate big man rim protecter in the CSL. Obviously I love Patton (Who I view as a Jokic Clone), but I want to talk about the prototype of Young who I view as a modern day Joel Embiid
. He is the league leader in rebounds just below Wendell Carter, but unlike Carter, Young actually plays defense. Our backcourt is REALLY struggling and Joseph is on his last legs but I'm so proud of him, the one player I was loyal to and never trade and for that I am super proud. If we ever win a title it will be with him leading the squad and one he retires Sexton will finally take over. I could use some more spacing at the SG position but Moore will have to do.
So what do you guys think?
Am I crazy to think he could retire as the GOAT big man?

Re: The Case for the most dominate big man in the CSL
Prime AD will always be the GOAT in this league. Its easy to forget now that he's older (but still playing at a high level), but that guy scored, blocked shots, and rebounded at will and nobody could stop him.
Young is good (dont get me wrong), but he doesn't compare to what AD did back in the day.
Zion probably has the closest chance to match prime AD in the league anytime soon.

Re: The Case for the most dominate big man in the CSL
The defensive rebounder Michael Young? He's not anywhere close to modern day Embiid. I'd say the closest thing to modern day Embiid that we have in the league is KAT or full-potential Wiseman. To me Michael Young is closer to a Steven Adams, or an Al Horford. Someone who's most important contributions won't pop up on the scoresheet, but the stats that do pop up are impressive in itself but not league changing.

Re: The Case for the most dominate big man in the CSL
Is he even the most dominant big man in his division? Ayton, Zion, Wagner, JJJ?
I love me some Young. Excellent player.
Its like my favourite player growing up was Dennis Rodman but I always knew that, even in his prime, he wasn't even the best player on this team. Young is an amazing rebounder and defender but far from a top big man in the game.

I don't understand the reference to Carter not playing defense: 0.92 points allowed per shot faced vs 0.90 for Young.
I like Young and he's one of my favourite CSL big man, but honestly, I prefer Carter as he offers more (like facilitating for others, 4.2 assists per game, for example).

off the top of my head, I'll take Davis, Al Jefferson, KAT, Ayton, Porzingis, Dwight, Monroe, SJJ, Zion, Faried, Bagley, Bruno, and a whole host of other bigs from the earlier days of the CSFL

This was my initial thought. In the division alone I would say Zion and Ayton are head and shoulders above Young as 2-way big men.

Young is a good player but he's really only dominant on the boards.

Eh, agree to disagree on this one I suppose.emplep7 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 16, 2022 2:31 pm Prime AD will always be the GOAT in this league. Its easy to forget now that he's older (but still playing at a high level), but that guy scored, blocked shots, and rebounded at will and nobody could stop him.

I would say DeAndre Ayton is the 3rd best Big in the league being Ben Simmons and Zion Williamson.
