Retool could be in store
If the New York Knicks can't win the title this season, they will look to trade Jaren Jackson Jr. The decision becomes pretty easy, when you compare him to Zion.
Jaren is a very talented All Star big man. He has 100% post, but also ability to shoot from mid range. Teams having been offering most for him. So it might be best going forward, if they can find the right trade partner, for the young big man.
On the right team, he is almost, or "as" good as DeAndre Ayton. Opinions vary, but... he has shown he can put up similar stats as Ayton. The only difference is the workload each big has every game.
Ayton has to carry a heavy workload on offense and defense, whereas JJJ isn't counted on as much. So in turn, the Knicks need to find the right winning formula where everyone contributes and equals to a winning formula.
The Knicks were close on a deal earlier in the season, with a West team. The deal never came about, because the New York Knicks were hesitant.
The only expandable right now is Jaren Jackson Jr. We can try him at center and Zion at power forward. But that did not work great two seasons ago.
This is the year where we keep JJJ or ship him out for some offers that have been presented to the Knicks.
Championship or bust for Jaren Jackson Jr.

I don't think JJJ should be moved, but I do think you guys should have more scoring options outside of just Zion Williamson. I agree with Marcos that paying both Ferguson and Crabbe that much money combined is financial suicide, and one of them have to be moved for cheaper options that do more on offense. JJJ is a once-in-a-generation big man, and I honestly wouldn't be so quick to move him based on a couple season's worth of underproduction. He's still young, and can easily step it up in the future. He's already a regular season monster regardless, so it isn't a problem there. It's just a problem in the playoffs, and players generally play better with more experience.

Might just draft/sign a 80-90 rating guard to put up quick points and run it back, with tweaks here and there

It is hard to imagine that you trade him but on the other side he could be indeed the player who can net a fitting package.

I think you should make sweeping changes to truly make this team yours. Time to blow this thing up and get crazy.

Re: Retool could be in store
I may be the in the minority here, but I think you should absolutely trade JJJ (or Zion). I think the Twin Towers concept is not working well in CSL at all. Both are effectively sitting there in the paint in each other's way. You'd be much better off if your one of your PF/C were to step away to mid-range or three.
In reality, comparing to other East playoff teams this is not a particularly scary unit. JJJ and Zion are both elite - but they are not good on the court at the same time. Then you have GDP who is not really a scorer. So, when you play Miami, Detroit, Milwaukee, Boston et al - are they really scared of NYK? Probably not. If you trade JJJ you can add another elite player, preferably at SG/SF who can carry the team along with Zion. Interesting offseason for sure.

Re: Retool could be in store
I agree New York could be more versatile offensively. Relying too much on the post becomes fairly easy to gameplan against. It's not like Zion is like Luka or Porter who can score from anywhere, he's a post scorer only. Doubling it down with JJJ who's also a post machine, and GDP, who can only play in the post and drive, makes a fantastic regular season team and a poor playoff one.andrei wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 3:02 pm I may be the in the minority here, but I think you should absolutely trade JJJ (or Zion). Re: Retool could be in store
I wonder if a wing version of JJ (similar value/production/age) would benefit this team but that's hard to find.

my opinion is that the Bender archetype could change drastically based on what adjustments are made in the league transition.
