Season Preview : Chicago Bulls
Lottery jumped signals rebuild

The Chicago Bulls has finally cleared the way to a rebuilding path, made moves to clear cap space and set upped a player development scheme. Uncharacteristic especially with GM rh0xxy, who was known impatient in this kind of setup. But who knows? some people gets tired and want to try something new. This might be the case here as well.

The Bulls actually set the rebuild midway last season, when they felt that Playoffs was out of reach thus started trading key players here and there like Dante Exum, Marcus Smart, and lastly Bam Adebayo. However, the Bulls continued to play with will and integrity and never tanked their way to the lottery. Though, they got lucky the pingpong balls went their way, jumping to 4th pick overall. This marks as the highest draft selection for their GM in this league.

Barring any change of heart, these are the goals of the team this season.

1. Player Development

The Bulls is banking on the potentials of their Draft selections. Yeah, unlike in previous years, the team have several players to look out for in terms of development, so without further adieu, let's introduce each one of them:

Patrick Williams - The 4th overall pick, 18-year old, former Florida State standout has a lot of expectations to fulfill. While not as talented as the other Draftees ahead of him or perhaps also right after he got selected, he is primed to be the cornerstone of this team. Projected as a glue guy type of a player but could hit superstar level if potential boost come his way.

Precious Achiuwa - The 20th pick overall, and a year older than Pat is coming in arguably the most ready of his peers on this squad. At a young age, Precious has already the tools to be a formidable post player and he still has room to grow, so watch out!

Jaylen Morris - He could be the steal of the draft with his potential to fill the stat sheet. He has the ability to produce triple double stats at any given night but he needs to develop his offensive efficiency and defensive mentality to make full use of his talent.

Jordan Caroline - Likely will be a role player once all is said and done. The 24th overall pick could actually fill the defense stat sheets which is nice to have anytime.

Josh Sharma - The first player to be selected in the 2nd round by the team is the least expected to make a noise as he is surrounded by a trio of more polished bigs but his rebounding ability especially on the offensive end is always welcome for the team. He was signed for 3 years so his time will come, for sure.

Jahlil Tripp - The last selection of the team in the just concluded Draft is somewhat similar to the skillset of Morris, although his shot selections might have a lot of work to be done.

2. Team Chemistry

The Bulls might be in an unfamiliar territory but expect the team to battle it out every single game. Don't expect the team to just lay down and die. The Bulls will be spearheaded by the veterans and holdovers from last season namely:

Terry Rozier - This could be the perfect time for Rozier to re-ignite his fire and regain the "Scary Terry" oldself. He can definitely take over on offense if given the reign, who knows?

Marquese Chriss - He actually did pretty well since arriving in Chicago post trade deadline. The opportunity is still there so all he has to do os grab it especially since he's expiring this season.

Rashad Vaughn - He doesn't really blossom last season alongside fellow shooter in Beasley but he will be given a second chance this time around.

Udoka Azubuike - A late bloomer, Udoka has shown some flashes of brilliance when he arrived to fill the void left by Adebayo. He's returning to anchor the team defensively.

Fred VanVleet - Fred has yet showcased his skills since the backcourt rotation was crowded last season, competing with Rozier, Brunson, and Trice. He has less competition now so this season could be different.

3. Team Fits

The team is still looking for players who fits well with what they are trying to accomplish. Whether it's collecting talents or preparing cap space for future plans. Here are the players acquired by the team this Offseason for a reason.

Isaiah Whitehead - Coming in to replace Brunson as the lead guard. The team is hoping that Whitehead is a better fit than Brunson had been. Whitehead brings respectable outside shooting to the table, that Brunson sorely lacks.

Andre Drummond - Acquired from Atlanta to give Azubuike help. Drummond is a former star and if he can relive his oldself, accepting team option is a must. If not, some cap off the books.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope - KCP's numbers are regressing by the years but he's still an able shooter and defender. His contract is not that huge as well.

Jusuf Nurkic - Big expiring and an insurance big man in case of injuries. He's actually still productive with his 10.6 points a game in 22 minutes last season.

There you have it. The new looked Chicago Bulls for the 2027-2028 CSL Season.

It will be a fun year with your young guys. I'd expect some vets to be shipped out midseason which will bring more minutes for the rooks. A guy like Chriss could be a good trade chip.

We're similar in that we love to build and rebuild teams through trading, but I'd love to see Patrick Williams be a Bull for life and I think Rozier on a team where he can carry the offense should be great - maybe a comeback season? He could revert back to SAS Rozier.

A very interesting mix of young players and seasoned vets. I like that because I think if you have only rookies and very young player on a team it may go totally side wards. I tried with the Hawks a similar mix but obviously the Bulls young talent is right now far superior.

And looking at the vets you "collected" there is some real good talent too, hard to put this team now without seeing them play the first games.
