DDS19 Update (PLEASE READ)
All,
Now that Training Camp is complete, the next step to the off-season will be to input all of the improved ratings into the formula to convert to the DDS19 rating system. This means that the next file will be the new league file using DDS19 (Yay!)
I do want to say that while we are targeting release of this file on Monday, 23Mar that we will want to test this final file just to be sure it aligns with the testing we have seen thus far to avoid any bugs in this conversion so this date might be pushed a few days, but we are committed to getting this file released in the next week so that we can start preseason simming the week of 30Mar. Essentially hang tight, we want this over with just as bad as your guys but we want to have a warm and fuzzy feeling that its right.
One other thing to note is that due to the significant time lapse between versions and how DDS19 accepts custom mods as roster files the first few months of the schedule will be difficult. DDS19 only accepts custom mod files as a statistic and not as a rating; For Example, you can't put "Allen Iverson, SCR 94, PAS, 72, HDL, 91, OREB 42, etc" into a dB file like we have now, you can only put in "Allen Iverson 28.2 ppg, 6.7 apg, 3.2 topg, 2.1 spg, etc". As you can imagine if we entered only the season statistics of our CSL players, this would result in ratings that do not align to our current rating system and this would be very bad.
To counteract this, once we create the new league file we have to edit the dB file with the true ratings. The problem is that the visuals in the game and on the HTML still reflect the game generated ratings until we hit the first ratings update (January 8th) in the game. Now the players will still play the way their true ratings are in the dB, but we won't be able to see those true ratings in the game or the HTML until this point.
UPDATE: Thanks to Doug, we have found a way to fix this bug and this will not be an issue in our CSL file!
We want to be 100% transparent, but as always feel free to comment on anything and let us know if you have any questions as this first season is going to be a transition for all of us.
Thanks,
Jon

Great work guys! Sounds like a fair and good solution to the above mentioned problem. Looking forward to the preseason!

I also noticed things not showing up right at first but don't remember exactly how/when they showed up. Maybe I am misremembering, but I think once a GM loads their profile in game, I think the ratings show up the right way.

Re: DDS19 Update (PLEASE READ)
So I tested this and it didn't work, but Doug the God did find a way to solve this problem and all is right with the world!
For this, I did promise Doug that he gets the next 5 1st round picks from the Washington Wizards, but I will edit the top post to account for this MAJOR improvement.
I can't say this enough, but thanks again Doug!!!!

Thanks for both the update and the work.
There is no rush at all. It's better to have things tested as much as possible before starting the season.

Great work guys.
Had no idea that these games don't use ratings as imports. I mean why? Glad it will work out for us as you definitely need imported ratings with any changes to be global across the board.
That's the plan right? There'll be no specific player changes right trying to match stats?

Re: DDS19 Update (PLEASE READ)
Ratings are identical to what you see in DDS3. The "only" difference are the converted shooting ratings since its very different now with the 2X 3 point shooting ratings and the new ball actions/floor range which have a BIG impact on how a player performs.bt wrote: ↑Sat Mar 21, 2020 2:18 am Great work guys.

Re: DDS19 Update (PLEASE READ)
I can't remember if it has been mentioned yet or can't find if it has but about the shooting ratings, has there been any communication with how the league is transitioning them into the new ratings?
Haven't played the new game yet but from what I've read so far, there are more/different ratings (extra three point options?) and I'm definitely interested in how the current shooting ratings will translate across.

Re: DDS19 Update (PLEASE READ)
There have been a number of threads on the new shooting ratings/ball actions over the past season. If you haven’t played the game or read these yet I highly suggest doing so or it’s going to take you a little while to figure the new options out.
If you’re asking for the formulas used to convert the ratings though, we’re not handing those out. The primary objective is to make the players play as close as possible to their DDS3 counterparts and ratings suggest.

Yeah I know about this. I was more digging into how a rating will translate across but if they're not being handed out, no problems. Was just curious.
