W vs. CHI

3-0 start to the season. MKG did a decent job on Markkanen who still finished with 23/9 but we won the turnover battle (22 TO's to 12). Our defense is looking sharp early, let's see if we can keep this going.

Joseph: 20/4/9 w/ 1 stl
Okafor: 14/10/1 w/ 2 stls & 2 blks
MKG: 14/10/2

OT loss in a shootout vs Denver. 136-139.

With no KAT or Mika, our frontcourt got beaten up by Drummond and Stone, but it was Tatum and James Young leading the way. We played a full 12-man rotation for the second straight game, and definitely played well enough to win, but Monk shot like he was concussed. We have since found out that he actually is concussed, and will miss the Knicks game. We have already had 4 injuries in 3 sims. All very minor, but it's still annoying.

Bender: 22 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 blocks, 9-17 FG
Monk: 22 points, 4 assists
Harden: 20 points, 5 assists, 6-10 FG
Kemba: 17 points, 6 assists, 2 steals
Porter: 16 points, 9 rebounds, 5-8 FG
Looney: 12 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 6-11 FG

Pelicans - 106
Anthony Davis: 28PTS/15REB/4ORB/6BLK
Moe Harkless: 21PTS/8-15FG
Brandon Jennings: 17PTS/8-21FG
Team: 11 Blocks/ 9 Steals/ 17 Assists/ 44 Rebounds/ 9 Off Rebounds/ 3-13 3FG

Trail Blazers - 118
Nikola Mirotic: 29PTS/10REB/12-15FG
Jordan Clarkson: 24PTS/8-15FG/6-7FT
Marcus Smart: 21PTS/7-12FG/7-8FT
Team: 4 Blocks/ 8 Steals/ 26 Assists/ 41 Rebounds/ 8-20 3FG

Wow a 12 point loss to the Blazers. Aquille Carr, Derrick Jones, Paul George, and Brice Johnson went for a combined 10-36FG. Anthony Davis shined, and Moe Harkless is playing well his first 2 games. Disappointed at the result, but we gained new insight. In the end, the Blazers just shot better. Played better. Outside of the 3's it was a close game.

Indiana - 105
New York - 84

Winslow - 29 pts | 4 asts | 5 stls
Mudiay - 19 pts | 5 rebs | 5 blks
Ojeleye - 12 pts | 4 asts | 8 rebs

Good solid win over the young Knicks. Solid all around team performance as the Pacers notch their first W of the 2023-2024 season. Most notable statistic goes to Mudiay with the 5 blocks, presumably on the youngblood Fultz. Pacers 1-0 at home, and hoping to stay unbeaten at home with the defending champs coming to town.

Beat the Clippers by 40 at home behind a very balanced attack. As we had 11 players scoring 4 or more. Fox was leading the corp again with 28.

Next up the champs. It could very easily be our fist loss this year.

Home win over the Wizzards. It seems the defense stepped up a notch and we also shot well.
One if this games where it seems everything goes flawless. Lets see if we can keep this up.

Brooklyn Nets - 102

Rashad Vaughn - 20 pts, 4 reb, 2 ast
Tyler Ennis - 17 pts, 4 reb, 5 ast
Pascal Siakam - 14 pts, 13 reb, 1 stl, 3 blk
DeAndre Ayton - 13 pts, 6 reb

Miami Heat - 121

Dennis Smith - 25 pts, 4 reb, 9 ast, 1 stl
Kyle Kuzma - 19 pts, 6 reb, 3 ast, 1 stl
Ben Simmons - 19 pts, 11 reb, 3 ast
PJ Washington - 17 pts, 9 reb

We tried to zone the Heat hard and it didn't exactly work. They shot 10-25 from deep (40%) while we shot 20-60 from beyond the arc (33%). Losing the three-point shooting category to the Heat almost guarantees that you're not leaving Miami with a win. We also allowed them to shoot 52% overall from the floor while we were under 40% yet again.

Well, looks like we are off to a similar slow start as last year as we are trying figure things out. Not happy about it, but not going to panic yet.

Been a bit busy but we're 2-1 which is an okay start although the loss to the Spurs wasn't ideal.

Getting a good spread of contributors though.

The Hornets get their first W of the season against the GSW who are just kickstarting their rebuild. Dunn with a great game and both Trae and Mikal continue to shoot quite nicely.

Dunn: 28 pts, 6 ast, 2 reb, 3 blk
Young: 17 pts, 3 ast, 3 reb
Poltl: 11 pts, 1 ast, 14 reb,

Phoenix Suns – 108, Utah Jazz – 90

PHX
Taylor – 30 pts (11-19 FGs, 8-9 FTs), 5 rebs
Austin – 17 pts, 11 rebs, 3 blks
Harrison – 10 pts (3-5 FGs), 12 asts, 5 rebs, 2 stls

UTA
Porzingis – 18 pts, 10 rebs, 3 asts, 3 blks, 2 stls
Dieng – 10 pts, 10 rebs, 4 blks
Hamilton – 15 pts, 5 rebs, 5 asts

We beat the Jazz on the road, but Kyrie was injured. I’m not sure if he got injured at the very start of this game (he only played 2 mins) or if he was injured last game and just hasn’t been taken out of the lineup yet. Obviously the Jazz are a completely different team without Kyrie, so I’m not sure how much can be taken from this game. Anyway, Taylor dropped 30 points and lil’ Shaq got the first dbl-dbl of his career.

I need to take advantage of this slow start for you but we are sitting at 1-2. These will be games we look back on and realize we blew our playoff chances.

mother f. Kyrie went down early in this one with a broken finger and is now out 40 days. That's going to hurt considering we let Bryce walk and are thin at PG now.
