Shooting preferences

When do they get updated? After all last season work Maker should be at 45 or 50 % drive.

Apparently there are potentials on shooting preferences. He could be capped already. Or sometimes the instructions don't take. I had Myles Turner at 40 drive and it took three instructions to get him to 50.

It’s a bug, here’s what happens:

When you input an instruction, it changes the potentials for the involved preferences immediately. After 1 month (or the duration of the instruction), the current is supposed to catch up with potentials, therefore “finalizing” the instruction. The bug happens exactly when that doesn’t happen, so it has to be manually inputted for that to work.

I’ve reached out to Myles before about that, I usually did that when I was an admin, even had a sheet with all instructions given so I could check if it worked when it was finished, so it was pretty fast work, and he told me they were also periodically doing it. I believe they’re gonna do it again after TC as there are lots of players with current and potential different when it comes to preferences.

Actually it is no bug. Just not every instruction is successful right away. At times the preference jumps after 3-4 instructions. Admins stepping in actually would destroy some realism. Not every instruction in real-life Is effective right away either. The good thing is, when it jumps, it jumps the full amount of instructions used.

Actually it’s the complete opposite.
In real life players adjust almost instantly to what a coaching staff asks them to. When Mike D’Antoni came to Houston, he basically turned James Harden into a layups and 3pt attempts player, actually not only Harden but the whole team, he took away all mid range Js instantly. Players must do what coaches ask them to in order to play.

There’s no realism at all if you need to spend 40% of your instructions to get a player from 40 to 50 drive, considering NBA players adjust immediately to what coaches wants.

It’s a totally flawed system.
That’s why someone needs to manually check EVERY player from every roster, and change it so the current can catch up with potentials.

We already have very few instructions, if we need to lose them because of that bug, it’s gonna be almost impossible to instruct a player correctly.

This is something we are going to discuss internally, as it is obviously a flawed system.

Agreed with Marcos here, as nba players do have to listen to their coach in regards to their shot selection 99% of the time.
Big changes are coming in D.C.

Yeah, it's a problem and always has been with this engine. That's why you'll see some dramatic changes to random player shooting efficiencies over their careers.

I caught it with Bamba last year. Actually, I didn't even catch it because I don't know what I'm looking for or how to catch it, lol. I just bitched because he was atrocious and only shooting jumpers, etc.

It probably goes unnoticed by other GMs like me.

I've been away a few days, so to summarize ... when are they going to get updated? After training camp?

Thanks in advance.

Makes me wonder if Mudiay's instructions took hold or not. Forgot to track.
