Free Agency System
All,
Due to the issues last year that we witnessed with DDS not allowing the LAC to sign Lillard, we have been working to design a hybrid system for this season to still allow us to use DDS for most of the Free Agents, but not have Mother Teams be penalized by the game of they attempt to resign their FAs.
With that said, we will be implementing a Hybrid Player Agent system for the top UFAs and RFAs this year. This will also limit some of the bargain signings that come up from time to time due to the FA pool being flooded with talent the first several days and tie more closely to real life.
The list of Players is below:
UFAs **Players who decline their PO might be added to this list.
Otto Porter
Aaron Gordon
Ben McLemore
Walter Tavares
Kevin Durant
Russell Westbrook
Steph Curry
Derrick Rose
Jrue Holiday
RFAs
Kristaps Porzingas
Draymond Green
Khris Middleton
Cory Joseph
Hassan Whiteside
Jae Crowder
Nikola Mirotic
If a player is on this list, all offers will be handled through PM to the Player Agents who will make a decision on how the player will be signed based on factors such as Mother Team, Financials(salary, raises, options offered, length), W/L Record, Playing Time, etc. The agents know to move the negotiations along so hopefully most (if not all) of these players will be signed by Day 10 (similarly to the usual timeline). If a player is part of an agreed S&T, be sure to include that in the offer sheet.
This will run in parallel to DDS-led FA, but if you are offering to one of the UFA and RFA be sure you are aware of your financial situation as the game will not account for the offers you have with the PAs.
There will be two PAs and they were told to create their accounts in the next day and will list who owns each player so that you know who to send your offers to when FA starts on Monday.
As always, let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Will other teams know what is being considered similar to how you can see deals in dds?

Re: Free Agency System
Q
Are we gonna be allowed to offer for all those players at the same time?
Besides, if we offer for a player in game, does that mean we can’t offer the money to a player in those PA’s?
I hope we have some time to adjust our contract decisions since the introduction of a hybrid system changes a lot of plans for all teams I suppose.
Hope to see a full PA system back soon! It’s much much better than the game, so if you’re risking some players, why not all of them?

Re: Free Agency System
I like changes to the FA System. Some important questions are still open as marcos lined out, but might help to make FA more solid. Just not sure yet, if I should like it that we have two players on that list or not haha.

There will be daily rumors released, but not exact figures like you see in DDS due to the commish login bug.

Re: Free Agency System
I would think of it as a hybrid where we have the same DDS limitations of our available CAP, but remove the chance of DDS logic ruining a franchise. If you have 20 million in CAP, you can split that however you want between PAs and DDS, but teams will still have 48 hours to match RFA offers.Marcos_Beck wrote: ↑Sat Jan 19, 2019 4:03 am Q

And yes, this might be the stepping stone for getting full PAs back for next season, but let’s see how it goes. Also, we apologize for the limited notice, but didn’t want a repeat of last year.
If you guys want more time for contract decisions, let us know.

Will there be some structure to the process? something like
day 1 - kristaps/otto porter sign
day 2 - ect/ect/ect
or will players just be randomly signed?

Re: Free Agency System
Didnt you guys get away from Player Agents because it was a disaster? If the goal is to prevent a player from leaving its home team why not just make it: if a home team gives their player a full max they are guaranteed to sign the player. If the home team desnt want to hand out a max contract then DDS handles it.
Will the Agents let everyone know what a player is looking for, and if the player will sign soon?
Will the in game rating greed/play for winner/playing time/loyalty be taken into consideration?

Re: Free Agency System
Yeah first time PA was a total disaster, sadly. But we didn't know better back then to some degree. However, following will still be one of the biggest problems.Silogical wrote: ↑Sat Jan 19, 2019 6:19 am Didnt you guys get away from Player Agents because it was a disaster? Also if a player like Capela/McL/Gordon (imo the 2.0 level of this class) has demands like 13m, favourite team CHI/BOS and they offer that 13m with increase over guaranteed 5 years and another team thst is worse across in w/l, not their home team etc but offers a 4 year max. Which team will the agent choose if traits indicate staying for a little less?
I think that was the biggest thing we had last time with PA. Are PA instructed to go with the home team, which dds does in 99% of the time with lillard being the only on ever to decide against it in 9 years of seasons?

Re: Free Agency System
What the league need to create a formula to set the extremes based on the players ratings+stats+greed/ect. If the home team meets the upper extreme they get the player, and no one can sign the player for less than the lower extreme. This prevents what the league is trying to avoid(bargains and teams losing players despite maxing them), but also lets DDS make those close decisions.Dennis wrote: ↑Sat Jan 19, 2019 6:46 am

Boston can sign B-Mac for 15m/yr or pass and go into DDS. If it goes to DDS no one can sign him for less than 10m/yr.

Re: Free Agency System
so far best FA idea I’ve heard to be honest.. even though range sounds a bit weird. Would be like 14m and other teams would have to offer at least 90% or so.

Re: Free Agency System
Given how certain GM's absolutely hate letting players walk in FA for nothing even if it's an overpay or not a good decision for the team, and their strong reactions to the game decisions if that does happen, I'm not sure they'll be able to handle a human taking a player away from them.
This is a risk.
This is a risk.

Re: Free Agency System
Just simply have these 'targeted' FA's that are worthy of a PA, be set a minimum signing figure/years/raises (average decided by 3-4 GM's) and let the game handle it then.Silogical wrote: ↑Sat Jan 19, 2019 6:58 amWhat the league need to create a formula to set the extremes based on the players ratings+stats+greed/ect. McLemore's minimum has to be 14 million. Everyone offers 14m and above, if he has no suitors and his demands drop to 9 million, Boston still has to sign him at 14 million. If Boston chose otherwise, come day 13-15 or whatever, the minimum figures/years/raises (even set one year max at that point to enter FA again next season) are lowered and so on but I wouldn't expect any of this targeted group to not have suitors.
It's simple and stops players signing less than they're worth. For the LAC thing, I don't think it was a bug given not one left but many so have no issues with that. Has happened in the NBA before.

I definitely did a mistake by naming McL as an example haha. Even though I think fair and realistic would be 13-14m per year with basic raisings..
