Open Discussion: Coaches Can Be Fired?

Post by Myles »

Hey coaches, wanted to get your input on something. There is a feature that we can toggle, where human coaches are either able to be fired by the school, or if we turn it off then coaches have 100% job security. I want to know what you guys think, if you want to have that toggled on or off.

Coaches CAN be fired
Pro: More realism
Pro: More pressure to achieve goals set by the school
Pro: Get the chance to start fresh at a new school

Coaches CANNOT be fired
Pro: Don't have to worry about leaving your dream school
Pro: Don't have to face the potential depression of being fired
Pro: Don't have to face the ridicule of your fellow coaches ;)

I believe we should be able to be fired.

Just not in the CSL or the Warriors would have already run me out of town. ha ha

What happens if you get fired?

I remember a very close friend of mine (who shall remain nameless) got fired in DDS  and he mentioned that you get to choose your new team a day after you get fired. But he got fired a few times and sometimes all teams remain filled so you have to wait for a season or join D-League.

How does it work in College game?
Congrats to season 16 ASL champion SoulKey. For the Swarm!

I just know that after each season you get offers from other teams but depending on your prestige as a coach you might not get any Head Coach offers.

Don't know how it works when you get fired.

In the worst case (getting fired without proposal of new job), we could apply a rule that the coach can choose a team with 50% of the prestige from the previous school

Ex :

You are coach in a prestige 80 program, you get fired so you can select a new school up to 40 prestige.

If it comes down to a situation where you don't receive any offers, we could always re-create you as a coach and manually place you back into the association at the chosen school.

Yeah so in the college game, you only get fired right before the job offer phase, meaning you won't have to miss any time at all. The game will provide a certain number of job offers for you. If for some reason, there are no head coaching offers for someone, we can work out a school to place you at as head coach, we have that ability. So no one has to miss any part of the league due to being fired.

Can an admin confirm that? That's really crucial to know before selecting magazines.

Bring in the realism!

Actually I'd love to see that feature applied into CSL as well but it's almost impossible. At least would prevent some guys from ruining teams but we don't know how does the engine works.

All admins have agreed that we will not be allowing the firing of coaches this year since that would be a task taken care of by the admin team outside of the game. The reason why is right now if you were to offer a "free agent" coach a contract at his demands, he will accept it immediately. That doesn't work very well with 15+ coaches possibly trying to sign the same coach.

During the offseason after the first season, there is a coach hiring/firing stage where you will be able to submit offers to a coach every sim. They will then be able to weigh those options and select where they want to go.

We believe it is most fair for everyone involved to wait until the game can handle multiple offers at one time.

At this stage, firing an assistant and hiring a new one is the same as signing an in-season free agent in the pro game. The coach will automatically sign with the first team to try and sign him. Since the simmer is the only one who will be handling that, it creates issues that we don't need right away. We will leave all coach firing and hiring until the first coach hiring phase in April, and then open it up beginning then.

I'm for having coaches get fired. Makes it more entertaining to make fun of humans getting fired :) .

Also, if someone else beats you to your dream school, there's still the hope that they could get fired. Thus opening up a position for you.
