RAPTOR++ / 2018-2019 CSL Season / Ep.2

Post by Chilikonkarne »

For those who don’t know RAPTOR++, it is a tool that combine the ratings of each player (70%) and his efficiency in game (30%). Their capacities are weighted in order to value good rebounding for bigs for example.
The % in game is also considered in the ratings which probably change the balance from 70/30 to 60/40.

The tool premiere objective is to evaluate players value when it comes to trade or free agency. It has it flaws with defensive aspects not taken into consideration (%STP, PA/SF).
However, I believe it bring a good overview in general and was well received the last years by the league.
I decided not to include team record since I like to compare the players over the years.

2018 - Isaiah Austin - Phoenix_Suns : 20.6pts, 52%, 1.3ast, 7.5rbd, 0.6stl, 2.2blk in 32.4min / EVAL: 85.6
2017 - Isaiah Austin - Phoenix_Suns : 15.4pts, 50%, 2.8ast, 4.9rbd, 0.8stl, 1.9blk in 30.2min / EVAL: 80.1
2016 - Isaiah Austin - Phoenix_Suns : 14.1pts, 51%, 2.5ast, 6.5rbd, 0.8stl, 1.9blk in 29min / EVAL: 79.6
2015 - Isaiah Austin - Phoenix_Suns : 12.1pts, 48%, 1.5ast, 5rbd, 0.6stl, 2.1blk in 28.6min / EVAL: 74
2014 - Isaiah Austin - Phoenix Suns : 13pts, 43%, 1.2ast, 4.9rbd, 0.6stl, 2blk in 28.2min / EVAL: 71.9

Filter : A player has to play more than 20 minutes a game and at least 25 games to be eligible.

Here we go for the Top10 ranking by position - second edition of the season!

Great stuff as usual, nice to see Gary Harris, and Jae Crowder making the lists, as It makes me feel good about the return I got for Middleton.

A picture of Stanley in Chilli's rankings :o

Good to see Stanley showing what I always knew he could do and that's become an unstoppable force in only his 2nd season.

James Young also made the list, nice

Funny you captioned that Brook Lopez pic "time to play with the starters" because the idea has crossed my mind to try a Twin Towers type lineup of Cousins Lopez with George on the perimeter....would definitely be interesting I think regardless of success or failure.

Great article love it man and great seeing George topping the SG's and Cousins #2 and Brook #6 (who could arguably be higher if he were a starter) on the C list.

2 Top 6 C's on the same team! :)

Historically Brook Lopez is more a high 70 but the fact he is playing other benches make him super efficient

Three players at Top 10 in their positions. I'll take that.

I guess I cant complain having the #5, 14, and 20 overall players plus the top 2 rankings. We will take it.

Im curious if a team has ever had 3 of the top 30 players based on these rankings. More curious to see if they could maintain their positions despite the inevitability that their stats will drop.
FINALLY a logical HC Rule our work is done

Well in 3 games (very small sample size) he put up 21pts 7rebs 3blks viewtopic.php?f=20&t=5351

I believe he would get it done as a starter in the mid-high 80's due to the team structure but either way I'll take it, very very happy with him.

New Orleans has now #1, #8 and #25.
It will be an opposition of style during the playoffs in the West between big three (NO, Dallas) and defense oriented teams (Phoenix and Sacramento).
