I had real problems narrowing down Ntilikina's potentials, no matter how many times I scouted him. I loved his versatility though. He should be able to do it all and play 1 through 3, depending on where he's needed. Seemed like a slightly poor man's version of Bledsoe here, so I'm sure Spurs will be like him.

With the 5th Pick in the CSL Draft, the San Antonio Spurs Select Frank Ntilikina from SIG Strasbourg.

In somewhat of a surprising pick for most Spurs fans the Spurs select another Point Guard after they drafted local prospect Denzel Livingston in the Lottery last year. What was more shocking to most around the league was the Spurs were not seen scouting Ntilikina at all during the season. It as believed they were targeting one of the big men drafted earlier or a scoring wing, but when it came down to the Spurs pick there were not any of those options. At 6'5 the French Point Guard has the physical tools to go up against multiple positions, something the Spurs value highly especially after seeing what Miami was able to do this season.
GM Bill Smith wrote:We are super excited to bring an elite athlete like Frank. We were not expecting him to drop to us so you can imagine how excited we were when he was sitting there at our pick. He will provide a lot of versatility to our line up as we plan on playing at multiple positions. From the video we have seen we see him being one of the elite Guards in the league. Some GM's have mentioned him as the next Kemba, but we believe he will create his own path in this league.

Strengths:
+ Defense
+ Playmaking
+ Shooting

Weaknesses:
- Discipline
- Rebounding

When asked about the future of current Point Guard, Denzel Livingston, Smith simply declined to answer and continued to about Frank's future with the team. There are rumblings within the league that Livingston might already have a new home with the Spurs having a big hole in their front court though not there has not been any details provided by team insiders.

Have him shoot all 3 pointers - keep him out of the paint, whatever you do. Super talented player and one of my backup options if Bagley had gone #2. Would've been a tossup between him and Ayton.

I thought you created that graphic haha, would have been cool.

If you weren’t expecting Ntilikina to drop, who got picked in the top 4 that surprised you?

That wasn't ever going to happen. You needed to get above Doug for that.

From a needs/fit perspective, that'd be the right call. From a pure talent perspective, Mitchell blows away Frank. In terms of potential upside, it was really Bagley/Mitchell/Ayton as Tier 1 players on both ends, Tatum/Frank/Young as Tier 1.5, Carter/Kuzma as Tier 2.

Hence why Brooklyn went Ayton at 3, even though Frank was a huge needs perspective. Ayton was Tier 1 talent.
