New Media Penalty Idea

Yeah I know this may not be popular because we are here to have fun and participate and enjoy this game as an aside to every day life to have a good time.

That said the thought occurred to me after seeing what happened to Indiana when they used an extra Player Instruction which they didn't have which brings them to a total of 9 PI's vs 10.

Since PI's are used to help develop talent have a team stripped of a PI which would hinder developing talent which directly affects the team vs not getting specific scouting information which may not be a big deal at all.

Lack of PI's >>>> Lack of scouting

Again definitely don't want to turn participation in an online sim League into an assignment but also if it is going to be media driven to an extent then it should have some bearing on said team.

Also that said it's pretty lax where articles can be simple Wiretap pieces and not huge reads as in the Insider section so it shouldn't be extremely difficult to get a piece written.

Just a thought, feedback?

I'm pretty sure this is what the NLL did in its final season. Instructions were tied to article writing. Each article was good for 2 instructions with scouting openly available to everyone regardless of participation.

I'm not against this by any means.

About 1/3 of the league actually writes articles. I'd say 2/3-3/4 of the league uses PI's. We'd be replacing a lot of people lol

I'm not following why they'd get replaced, replacing non-writing GM's was the solution before regardless if they logged on or not (which of course still is an option for inactivity) but the loss of PI's hinders the team moreso than losing scouts imo.

Exactly. A GM that loses the competitive edge that PI's bring because he doesn't have the time (or whatever reason) to write media will leave the league.

I personally like the idea, as I believe I was one of maybe two individuals who wrote a playoff article - and I wasn't even a participant.

The league gets boring without articles to read, so I'm wholeheartedly in favor of it. It takes like 5 minutes tops to dash off a Wiretap.
