Chicago Bulls – 90, Phoenix Suns – 108

PHX
Okaro – 21 pts (10-13 FGs), 9 rebs, 4 stls, 2 blks
N’Diaye – 11 pts, 12 rebs, 2 blks
Taylor – 28 pts (9-17 FGs, 10-11 FTs), 2 stls

CHI
Davis – 19 pts (8-15 FGs), 10 rebs, 3 blks, 2 stls
Leonard – 21 pts (6-6 FTs), 12 rebs, 2 stls
Teodosic – 13 pts, 7 asts, 3 stls

We did it! F yeah! :)
Nothing will completely erase the epic meltdown we suffered a few years ago against these Bulls, but this goes a long way. Especially vindicating for the Suns that were around the first time (Austin and Okaro). As for the game itself, we got off to a big lead early (up 22 at the half) and maintained it thereafter. We were up 26 going after 3 quarters, so the 4th quarter was basically a party for our guys. Okaro was an absolute legend in this one. He was a terror all over the court. Easily the player of the game for us. Very fitting way for his DDS3 career to end. Interestingly we lost the TO battle by a good bit (6). If you told me before the game that we were going to lose the TO battle by 6, I would have replied that we were in some big trouble. Taylor somehow had 8 turnovers by himself (which I’m almost positive is a career worst). Not ideal for the biggest game of his career, but it ended up not mattering. Inserting N’Diaye into the lineup for big minutes when we returned to Phoenix for games 6 and 7 proved to be very helpful. He was a big help in controlling the glass and making sure we didn’t get decimated there by the Bulls front-court like we had most of the series. A smarter GM would have made that move before then, but it wasn’t until game 6 that I decided to just abandon trying to slow down AD and just focus on other areas that I might be able to control better. Our overall defense was fantastic, keeping the Bulls to 37% shooting overall. And our offense was pretty good (51% shooting overall, 46% from deep) besides the 19 turnovers.

I certainly appreciate all of the kind well-wishes from friends and rivals alike! I needed two game 7 wins at home to get the title. I doubt I get it done if I didn’t have HCA in every series I played. But I’ve blown HCA regularly in the past, so at least we finally took advantage of it this time around.

I wish Marcos all the best going forward. There is no doubt that he was the architect of one juggernaut of a team. I thought we could make a series of it, but if you asked my prediction before the series, I did not think we would actually take the title. My goal was just to make the Bulls earn every game. If Marcos’s heart/head were in the entire series, there’s a very real chance this series ends differently. Marcos is a great GM and a fantastic guy. Just as one recent example, at one point during the series (I think it was game 4) I accidentally submitted on the DC thread without actually uploading a tem, and Marcos messaged me on Facebook to ask if I meant to not actually submit a tem (I hadn’t… I’m just an idiot that must have uploaded it incorrectly). He certainly didn’t have to do that, but that’s just the kind of guy he is.

I’m looking forward to the new engine switch! I haven’t even bought the DDS19 game yet (but I will in the next couple days), so this should have some interesting challenges. Not much downtime for us before the draft starts, so it’s right back to the grindstone. Best of luck to everyone for next season!

That's a nice story about Marcos. Hats off to both of you.

I know, they have 4 to our 3 so we need to all step it up. Michael Porter better average 63 ppg in the new engine.

At least we’ve evenly split our titles among 3 teams. SAC and PHX are carrying the measly LA & bay teams over there

So Philly GM's have been in 8/11 csl finals. Winning 4. Not bad.

We are just built different.

You guys are lucky TJ (StOfTheStep) isn't still around too. Philly would have all the championships. It wouldn't even be fair.

I couldn't even steal a win in the CSFL with a stacked Patriots roster to start the league. No chance of me winning one in this league lol.

To be fair, you lost in the SB to a veteran GM that definitely knew what he was doing.

Wait, Utah didn't win? Knew this league was rigged.

Congrats Doug! And congrats to Marcos on an unreal career in CSL. Set the gold standard for a GM.
