2023 All Star Rosters Announced
Thanks to all who voted as we had 17 GMs vote in this years ASG.
Any players from teams who did not vote in the ASG who were nominated were bumped down one tier (i.e. starter to bench, first reserve to second, etc). Below are the rosters for the game tonight:
EAST
Starters - total votes (1st place votes):
Guard - DeAaron Fox - 64 (10)
Guard - Milos Teodosic - 40 (3)
F/C - Ben Simmons - 80 (16) **Eastern Conference and League Top Vote Getter
F/C - Blake Griffin - 69 (12)
F/C - Lauri Markannen - 57 (6)
Reserves:
Guard - Dante Exum - 39 (5)
Guard - Damian Lillard - 26 (3)
F/C - Jabari Parker - 67 (11) *Bumped 1 tier
F/C - Kawhi Leonard - 36 (3)
F/C - Andrew Wiggins - 20 (0)
Wildcards:
Guard - Cory Joseph - 14 (1)
F/C - Joshua Smith - 17 (1)
Others receiving votes: Kyrie Irving - 40 (8)*removed due to trade ineligibility, Terry Rozier - 16 (0)*removed due to trade ineligibility, Skal Labissiere - 13 (1), Myles Turner - 13 (0), Dennis Smith Jr - 12 (1), Kevin Love - 11 (1), Lonzo Ball - 10 (1), Kris Dunn - 10 (0), Julius Randle - 9 (0), PJ Dozier - 8 (1), GDP - 8 (1), Pascal Siakam - 7 (0), Jamal Murray - 6(0), Walter Tavares - 6 (0)*trade ineligible, Steph Curry - 3 (0)*trade ineligible, Greg Monroe - 3 (0), Tristan Thompson - 3 (0), Hassan Whiteside - 3 (0), Thon Maker - 1 (0), Cameron Payne - 1(0), Ben McLemore - 1(0)
Notes: Jabari gets bumped from the starting lineup due to their great GM and Lauri gets the benefit of that move. Simmons takes over the league high vote getter securing starter votes from every GM who voted (except his own), The starting 5 is legit and has some newcomers to the team with Fox and Milos. Long time starters Kemba Walker and Kyrie are missing for the first time in 5 seasons.
WEST
Starters:
Guard - Paul George - 55 (7)
Guard - John Wall - 49 (7)
F/C - Stanley Johnson Jr - 44 (7)
F/C - Kristaps Porzingas - 28 (2)
F/C - Karl Anthony-Towns - 58 (9)
Reserves:
Guard - Marcus Smart - 47 (4)
Guard - James Harden - 63 (10) *Bumped 1 tier
F/C - Kevin Durant - 68 (10) **Western Conference High Vote Count - Bumped 1 tier
F/C - Anthony Davis - 38 (7) *Bumped 1 tier
F/C - Khris Middleton - 21 (1)
Wildcards:
F/C- Isaiah Austin - 37 (3) *Bumped 1 tier
Guard - Eric Bledsoe - 27 (2)
Others receiving votes: Isaiah Taylor - 46 (6)*bumped 1 tier, Malik Monk - 19 (2), Kemba Walker - 16 (2), Otto Porter - 14 (2), Richard Solomon - 14 (1), Jayson Tatum - 13 (1), Zach Lavine - 13 (0), Okaro White - 11 (1), DMC - 9 (0), MKG - 8 (0), Elfrid Payton - 6 (0), Klay Thompson - 3 (0), Derrick Rose - 3 (0), Kenneth Faried - 3 (0), Zach Collins - 3 (0), Mario Hezonja - 2 (0), Andre Drummond - 1 (0)*trade ineligible
Notes: The Western rosters got shuffled big time and it resulted in the starting lineup hurting a little. Still a ridiculous lineup, but the depth is shaken a bit which could give the East the advantage. Golden State rules the votes with KD as the lead vote getter here and Harden right behind him, but both get punted to the reserve role.
Congratulations to all representatives and good luck tonight!

Re: 2023 All Star Rosters Announced
Man, guys like Jabari, Isaiahs, KD, and Harden got screwed from a starting nod due to their GMs not voting, what a shame.
Nice to see Milos getting the starting spot though! That's awesome!

Should be a fun game!
Shame that Kemba and Monk fought each other for votes and neither made it. I wish I could combine their votes lol. I wish I could combine skillsets too but that wouldn't be fair to anyone

Re: 2023 All Star Rosters Announced
Some gms are happy with their players getting a few votes or winning 20 games, we don't.. it's All star or not.
Especially when a player like markkanen, who is putting up the same stats per minute like skal, is getting so many votes. Maybe I should just push my guys over 25 minutes per game.

Hopefully, we'll be better in a year or two and it will result in Dunn getting a place in an all-star game. We'll have to wait and see.
I love the lineups and they're pretty much what I expected.

All-Star is counting stats based voting. I wouldn't have voted Skal either because he's not even averaging 7 RPG (didn't vote - no time)Dennis wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 8:11 pmSome gms are happy with their players getting a few votes or winning 20 games, we don't.. it's All star or not.

Re: 2023 All Star Rosters Announced
7 rebounds in 25 minutes is more than markkanen gets per minute. Not bad. PERwise he's top15 in the league. But yeah it's stats driven. I'm not disappointed about it at all as I don't play my guys heavy minutes on purpose, just wondering why he didn't get much love despite leading a team to a top 3 record when looking at other players getting voted.Jestor wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 8:22 pmAll-Star is counting stats based voting. Re: 2023 All Star Rosters Announced
I don't understand why it's a negative to other teams/player for playing decent minutes. You act like everyone else is padding stats because you only play guys half the game, if that. It's your strategy, cool. Find me an NBA all star or note worthy guy that doesn't play 30+ minutes. I'll wait.
On the voting, seems like it was a mix of guys following directions and others not. I, where noticed, didn't vote for guys who were going to be injured but did for guys who were traded as I didn't know they weren't eligible. I also wouldn't say Kyrie didn't make the team as he clearly did (would have started) but was ruled ineligible bc he was traded.
In any event, glad to see KP make the squad. This was tough to do.

Re: 2023 All Star Rosters Announced
Haha no worries, I don't. It's a blessing that our team is more than 2 players deep. It was more or less a note to myself to play starters more minutes if I want All-Stars hahaOcons wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 8:30 pm I don't understand why it's a negative to other teams/player for playing decent minutes. Re: 2023 All Star Rosters Announced
Got it. Yeah, this game is a popularity contest for the most part. Like IRL, a lot of guys make it on name alone. Nobody is taking the time to go through and really look at how players are doing or tracking them all season. When the thread pops up, guys jump in and look at numbers. My strategy is to go team by team and as I get full, then I start eliminating and making decisions. It's not easy. It's also irrelevant.
