Buzz Report: Hornets sign Hibbert

Hornets Sign Hibbert

Entering free agency with their MLE available, the Hornets decided to sign a backup center who’ll be able to play as a backup for Enes Kanter. Even after drafting Angel Delgado (Seton Hall) and Landen Lucas (Kansas) the team lacked a top-level rim protector and that’s exactly what they got in Roy Hibbert. The Hornets have agreed to a deal with the Jamaican-American veteran worth $5.5 million over one year.

The front office in Charlotte believes Hibbert still has plenty of gas left in the tank and hope he’ll be able to help their young big men develop.

Hibbert, 35, has spent the previous season with Philadelphia 76ers where he started 54 times, averaging 9.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game.

Still a serviceable player and one I tried to get after missing out on Howard.

That’s a solid signing, as he still has some pretty good rating for a rim protector.

Still a useful guy who can help you off the bench. Actually as the years goes by he gets even Lowe usage and that’s great.

Royd Rage!!! Signed him to a large contract and he played well enough to help net us Cousins then Drummond!!!

Overall price turns out for me was Gordon Hayward Roy Hibbert 3 1sts for Drummond 1st, not bad there 'ol Willy 😀

Without digging it was Hayward Hibbert 2 1sts for Cousins then Cousins 1st (which became Mo Bamba) for Drummond 1st (which became Justin Anderson)
