[Flaming Homer]

Pretty busy these days and just missed Flaming Homer one (CSL) year anniversary!

January 7th the new GM took over the reins in Atlanta. The first assessment revealed a team split between re-build and competing for a playoff spot.

In Justice Winslow, Jacob Poeltl and DeAngelo Russell there were young players not ready to compete but good enough to build around. The rest of the team were seasoned veterans and lower role player.

The management decision called for a complete rebuild and in a flurry of moves veterans were sold for picks, younger player or cap space. Poeltl went to Minnesota for Murray and shortly after an interesting offer arrived to swap Karl Anthony Towns for Winslow and Russell. It was not easy to say goodbye to Winslow but the talent upgrade to KAT was too much to pass up.

Since then we already changed strategy once as we had the opportunity to get our hands on Dante Exum. Instead of a long term full rebuild we focus now on a short-term window and try to bring some winning basketball back to Atlanta first. A full rebuild is still an option, but I feel this way I have better control when and how to start it.
The team had a bumpy start in the new season but compared to last season we have already 10 more wins at this time and I really hope we can get out of our recent slump and play some more competitive ball!!!

I'm impressed that you managed to stay in the mix despite missing Exum pretty much this whole season. Hoping he can stay healthy, because I really believe he's one of the 5 best players in the league when he's on the floor. You should be able to do some damage if you find that balance of minutes and strategy that keeps him out there.

Yeah, people will give you crap for changing directions, but you’ve gone 13-14 without Exum, so you have a pretty decent supporting cast all things considered. Exum should make a big difference and we will see soon.

Glad to have you in this league man, as you've been doing a good job to ATL. Sure, some moves might not makes sense to others, but it's your team, and you have a vision that you're following through, and that's all it matters.

Yeah that will be interesting if one guy can turn a team around.
But overall you are right, the team did well all things considered.
But good to know there is more work to do in year two ...

KAT > Exum but you still managed to get a team out of the worst situation in the league. When exum is back you should start a solid run.

Exum is a top-4 player in my mind. I would only consider Harden, AD and George as better than him right now.

When he returns the race for a playoff spot in the East will be nice!
