The Brian Schmitz Report: Mr. Drummond

Post by WillyJakkz »

Brian Schmitz: With the first month of the season in the books, the Magic are inching closer and closer to the return of C Andre Drummond and he is certainly excited about it!

"All I know is that it's been frustrating watching the guys go out there, knowing I can make a major impact on the floor but not being ready to go out there and actually play right now... but I'm getting there... I'm getting there", said Drummond.

When asked about rumors swirling around where he'll be playing he stated, "Well the team has been playing increasingly well, Joel [Embiid] has been phenomenal as well as Andrew [Wiggins] so it doesn't matter if they put me at PF or C, or start me at PF then I play backup C... at this point I don't particularly care, I'm just ready to play and help us make the Playoffs."

The Magic are 5-5 in their last 10 games losing the bulk of those to highly ranked Playoff teams.

I really just think you're an eilte PG away from the top tier teams with Drummond coming back. It'll be interesting to see how you stagger your collection of bigs.

Yeah will be interesting to see how Drummond/Embiid work. The new Cousins/Lopez combo with the new Paul George aka Wiggins on the perimeter.
Plus Cov and Anderson

Need that pass first pg though. Try Rubio from PHX. Perfect for you

I would zone that team 24 hours a day. Easy win.
Don't tell me Anderson is going to beat me from downtown cause 9 times out of 10 he won't. The idea is nice and defensively would have been a solid crew but so easy to beat by making them brick and protecting the boards.

Yeah I'm already going to 9 zone Orlando when we play. If you added Rubio, I wish I could set my zone to 15

I do think Willy will add a low usage legit PG at some point, but he's committed to trying Wiggins out there for a bit first. Plenty of time to experiment before the trade deadline.

Embiid is having a phenomenal year thus far manning the center position, so I'm very curious to see how he plays once he has to share it with Drummond. Again though, plenty of time to experiment.

Looking forward to that game actually since KAT got traded from the SE division.

Yeah? I think Wiggins has been playing great at the position, mismatch for most and yeah gotta figure it out but likely Drummond at PF since Embiid is doing quite well at C. But who knows what the future holds.... 8-)

Orlando hasn't given Danny Green many minutes. But he's a career 42-45% 3 point shooter. Add Cov(39%), Anderson(44-50%).

I don't think it would be an easy win by any means.

They're not high volume shooters. I'll take my chances with them if it keeps Embiid and company in check. If Danny Green and Justin Anderson beat me, then more power to them.

It will be very interesting to see how a duo of Drummond + Embiid will work, as both are interior guys who like to operate around the same area.
