Malik Monk Fires Back

Post by KW »

Image

Fresh off a career high 58-point game against Western Conference rival Portland Trailblazers, Rockets star Malik Monk put the league on notice in a press conference.
Make no mistake. I - AM - THE - MVP. I don't want to hear nothing that Terry guy has to say from the sidelines. Yall know how much I'd score if I had 45 shots a game? Some of us have teammates to play with. You see how much better the Spurs were when Jabari got touches?
There appears to be some tension between the top two scorers in the state of Texas. After professional mason Terry Rozier called out Malik Monk following Jabari Parker leading the Spurs to two wins, Monk fired back both on the court and off of it. After the huge performance, in which Monk dropped 58 points on 29 shots and no free throw attempts, Malik Monk uploaded this image to his instagram.

Over his last fifteen games, Monk has gone completely nuclear, averaging 30.7ppg, well north of 50/50/90 shooting splits, and hitting the 50 point threshold three times (setting a career-high each time), and never once taking more than the 29 shot attempts he attempted against the Blazers.

Maybe MVP front-runner Ben Simmons has some competition after all...

Yeah, there's going to be a number of people that vote for Rozier just because of the volume of points he puts up, but honestly he's not in Monk's, Simmons' or Tatum's class for MVP. That's not meant as a slight to Rozier. Very few players are in their class. But if we're talking about true value, efficiency definitely matters. And Rozier is not efficient.

Derrick Rose wasn't a statistical darling and yet won a ring against one of the best teams in the history of this league... I mean, what Rozier is doing is exceptional.

Haha I'm not sure what that has to do with anything. You're comparing apples to oranges there. Two very different players on two very different types of teams.

Malik Money
Thelonious (Monk)
The Zen Master
The Order of the 3-Ball
Malik Madness
Divine Buckets

I feel like it's pretty easy to riff on Malik Monk and come up with something better than Moist Monk lol

Good point from Doug, Rozier is not totally ineffective but compared to Monk ...
How effective Monk is as an shooter, is absolute crazy.

Rozier has the better D imo which puts him ahead in my book ... really personal taste.

But it will be hard to take it from Simmons :-)
This guy is balling out everywhere on the court and has his team running on all cylinders, all season long.

Leave my man Caleb alone
He’s doing fine in Philly and should be able to enjoy the good life with all that money. I’m good paying him as long as he helps us win

Hey that's franchise superstar Caleb Swanigan you're talking about.
And role player Malik Monk. Only role players shoot 3's, the best players play inside the arc!

It is incredible that he shoots so much with Parker in the lineup. I have a had time to convince AD to shoot more.
