A Couple Providers

Post by Ramcus »

Throughout the season, the Pelican's roster was very similar to a turnstile, as many players came in and out of the team via trade. They spent a lot of time fiddling around, trying to figure out the right sauce. During this time, there were a few standing pillars in the Pelican's roster. A couple players who ended up being surprisingly consistent in their production. These players were David Stockton, PJ Tucker, and Tyrone Wallace.

David Stockton[5'11, PG]: 67 Games Played | 65 Games Started | 24.7 Minutes Played | 6.5 Points | 2.3 Rebounds | 6.2 Assists | 1 Steals | 0.1 Blocks | 46.1% FG | 48.3% 3FG | 86.5% FT
In the offseason, David Stockton was given what many GM's considered an overpayment of a 5 million 1 year contract. Those GM's thought Stockton wasn't worth the contract, but that at least the contract was an expiring. Stockton surprised many this season, playing an impressive role as the steady starting point guard for the Pelicans this season. He played so well that he earned an invite to the 3 point contest during All Star break, and surpassed expectations. Stockton may not be getting another large contract, but he showed that he deserves a place in the league still.

PJ Tucker[6'6, SF]: 70 Games Played | 10 Games Started | 14.7 Minutes Played | 3.5 Points | 2.5 Rebounds | 0.6 Assists | 0.6 Steals | 0.2 Blocks | 37.5% FG | 26.7% 3FG | 84.6% FT
PJ Tucker was given a similar contract to Stockton, and performed admirably. His raw numbers are underwhelming, but Tucker played a vital role on the defensive end. This showed in his advanced numbers, where he played himself into a -0.1 +/-, while producing those shooting numbers.

Tyrone Wallace[6'5, SF]: 71 Games Played | 61 Games Started | 27 Minutes Played | 13.9 Points | 5.1 Rebounds | 4.5 Assists | 0.9 Steals | 0.1 Blocks | 41.6% FG | 82% FT
After last offseason, Tyrone Wallace remained unsigned. What many GM's considered a bust in the old engine, Wallace couldn't get a contract. During the season, the Pelicans were scouting free agents, and came across Wallace. Willing to take a chance, as the Pelicans had a hole at Small Forward, the Pelicans signed Wallace to a 1 year minimum contract. Wallace wasn't incredibly impressive in his debut, but he changed everything quickly after. On his 5th game this season, Tyrone Wallace dropped 43 points and lead the Pelicans to a dominant win against the Atlanta Hawks. That game certified Tyrone Wallace as a CSL player, and played him into another contract heading into next season.

Wallace really used his chance.
Still his biggest flaw is his efficiency, if he could get his shooting just improve a tad he is a legit player.

Stockton looked very solid as well. Should be a nice backup point.

I remember that Wallace 43 point game. I think he was averaging 17-18 ppg for quite a while in the beginning. Hopefully he is loyal to you guys given you gave him the chance.
