Layman Finds it in Golden State

The Warriors traded Klay Thompson for Jake Layman earlier this year, which had some mixed reviews across the league. The Golden State GM had his eyes on Layman in Free Agency and thought he would be a great fit for the team. We wrote earlier this year about Layman's start in Golden State, which was average to say the least. In his first 16 starts, Layman was averaging 11 ppg, 4.6 rpg, and 3 apg. However, lately and consistently, Layman has been on an absolute tear with some tweaks. The Warriors have been experimenting quite a bit which may have cost them some wins, but bigger picture thinking is what it's all about this season. Believe it or not, Layman has scored in double figures in 23 straight games. This is a pretty astonishing stat considering what he was doing in Miami and his first month in Golden State. Lets take a closer look at his stats in this stretch:

Games: 23
Minutes Per Game: 28.8
Points Per Game: 16.2
Rebounds Per Game: 3.9
Assists Per Game: 2.4
FG%: 124/278 = 45%
3PT%: 93/226 = 41%

Layman is attempting almost 10 three pointers a game, which is pretty high. Surprisingly, his two point shot percentage is actually 60% which may make the Warriors consider having him live a bit more inside the 3 pt line.

Of course, after writing this article, Layman will probably score 9 points in his next game.

Waiting for the 9 point game haha

But truth be told, always like Layman and tried to get him during 2 FA. But somehow he ended always up with contracts I could not afford.

Yeah, it seems like he is the perfect player for this engine. 10 threes a game is crazy though so maybe we need to talk about getting him to Detroit next year...

The Warriors have also been one of the best teams lately. Well done, Ryan.
