How are the rookies doing?
For a while I was planning to take an early look at the rookie class. But my vacation came up a little too fast and I was not able to dig deeper in the numbers or to even format the document for the forum.
But before all stats are outdated, I decided to still put them up and link it to an external html file. May be a source to discuss at least.
The order is my personal view, how I see and judge the play of the rookies so far. I did not take in account the age of the players and what potential they may have in the future, just how they played so far.
Player qualified when played more than 15 minutes per game. I put the 3pt% in when the player attempted more than 2 threes per game.
And I didn't list my two rookies ... to biased for that

Ill be doing a rookie+sophmore ladder soon. Vezenkov is surprisingly high. he could be this years diallo. Regardless he is at the least going to way outperform his draft position.

Wow, love the graphic you put together. I'm pretty high on some of the rookies from the 2021 class so it will be fun to see how they grow going forward.

Re: How are the rookies doing?
Thanks!
And yes, Vezenkov is outplaying his draft position but also his ratings a little bit.
I hope he can gain some there during the season and maybe another TC like his last one.
He was about to go to the D-League but the Exum injury shuffled everything up. He is using his playing time very well.

Re: How are the rookies doing?
Nice work!
Looks like Miami's rookies are playing well so far. As expected none of them have been particularly efficient on offense, but they're doing work in other areas- particularly Semi and PJ Dozier, both of whom I really like.
Ball is likely my ROY so far. His presence has been felt and Philly is playing terrific. I don't think his set up ability can be overstated.
As for my rooks:
Monk has shown flashes and has been fire from three, but his defense is rough right now. Hopefully by next training camp, his defensive ratings will come up, and I'll get to drop his weight down to 190 to let him stop drives a little better. He's playing about 16-24 minutes as of late depending on the matchup and is probably going to stay there. I can't justify giving him more at this point given how well Bender is playing on the wings, and I doubt Monk can handle more with his current endurance.
Patton's a project. Haven't gotten around to any pref work on him this season, so I'm not really expecting him to do much of anything this year. He's had his big moments where he's put up starting level stats in backup minutes, but there's been more stinkers that drive down his stats. Just giving him the typical 16mpg behind KAT ever since I shipped out Love. There will be games where he doesn't play if I like Looney over him in certain matchups, but for the most part, he'll be in the rotation, just as a ~9th guy.

Miami's rookies are playing the most minutes by far.
For rookies they are very solid and it will be interesting to see if the playing time is helping their development.

I’m liking this class so far! Not only for my rooks who are real gems but for the others as well as we right now have an open battle for ROY between Lauri and Ball IMO, with Fox closely behind!

This is really cool, man. Well done. I love it.
Knew Mo would never get recognition this year but I'm okay with that With his minutes, our depth and strats that we run - he's not going to have the gaudy numbers some other guys get. On a Per 36 basis, he's legit. He also has some work to do yet but should be a staple in CSL lineups.

Re: How are the rookies doing?
I was wondering how many rookies you would include and I was pleasantly surprised to see Josh Hart. He’s been good as a backup PG, he definitely can’t play defense and that will hurt, but he is a good passer, takes care of the ball. He’s my 3rd PG now and for the rookie minimum, I’m very happy with that.
Jackson has been much better out of the gate than I expected, especially defensively. I expected him to be good on both ends, but he’s been elite defensively and good offensively. We will need to work on his preferences, but that’s fine.

Re: How are the rookies doing?
Its crazy how the rookies now perform way better than they used to. There used to be a 2 season limit before rookies actually contributed and all of a sudden they are playing great from day 1.
I wonder what changed the last two years.

Still wish I was on the draft team, there's a few positions of need (for the Jazz) that I'd address much faster.
