Wrapping up 23-24 Season in Memphis

Post by Sharkn20 »

Offensive leaders
Zach LaVine: 20.5 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 3.9 apg
LaVine had a great year being able to shoot 41% from deep, 44.6% from the floor and 85% for the charity stripe. Zach has been the number one option to go to against soft or zone defense or as an option for middle range, generally shooting from downtown, LaVine earned his paycheck this season, being regularly effective with few "off" games where his wrist wasn't as good as you would expect from a man of his calibre.

Khris Middleton: 17.5 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 3.0 apg
Middleton acted as the perfect #2 for this team, being able to take the reins when LaVine was having a bad day. Khris shoot 44.4% from deep, 39.6% from the floor and 91% from the charity stripe. The main trait of Middleton is his defense, but this man can score too, you can't sleep on him or he will make you pay.

Bismack Biyombo: 10.6 ppg, 10.4 rpg, 1.8 bpg
Biyombo was the perfect complement for both shooters, being able to swipe a lot of offensive rebounds (3.6 orpg) and being a presence inside the zone that you can always relay to take short shots or dunks at 53.6% clip. Bismack was really good locking up defensive rebounds and keeping in check opposite "non-elite" Centers, maintaining them quite normally.

Defensive leaders
Shane Larkin
Larkin was fantastic all day long shooting down opposing PGs in M2M coverage with an 89.4% of stopped drives and allowing only 5.9 points per game, he is the first choice for this Memphis team when facing against teams that can really shoot from deep, He can contribute in the offense as well specially shooting from 3, but his perfect use is as a defensive PG.

Draymond Green
Another defensive standout is Draymond Green, he is perfectly suited for both M2M and Zone defense, he can shut close opposite forwards at a 75.7% in penetration and allow only 1 point per shot faced, he has 13.9 EFF, and he can rebound 8 rpg, steal 0.8 spg and block 1.0 like not many bigs in the league, he is moved around the forward positions at convenience depending of who the hot match up for the game is.

Bogdan Bogdanovic
Coming from the bench, Bogdan is the responsible of shutting down dangerous back ups from the bench, he can play in both SG / SF positions and his statistics are pretty good when facing the 6th or 7th man from the bench. He has 74.3 STP% and 0.9 PA/SF, adding 6.8 EFF playing just above 12 minutes per game.

Not much to say that hasn't been said already during our articles, we're expecting finishing anywhere between the #6 and #8 seed with a very difficult end of the season with NOP, HOU and SA match ups.

I like this team. Wouldn't want to face them in the 1st round. The interesting things is that you're a great road team, which is something the higher seeds should be sweating.

I expected a new gm to come in and completely reload/retool. You surprised me, by adjusting to the current roster, with strength and weaknesses. I've been paying attention.

Definitely a candidate for coach of the year.
