Anigbogu ready to prove his doubters wrong.

Christopher "Ike" Anigbogu has been overlooked pretty much his whole life, as he was cut from his high school basketball team during his freshman year, and after working his way back on to the high school varsity team in his sophomore year, he was stuck playing behind upperclassmen that were ahead of him in the depth chart. However, Ike never gave up, never complained, and never blamed any of these events on anyone but himself. And as a junior, Ike was finally given a chance to start for his high school team, and he immediately made an impact by averaging 20 ppg, along with 10 rpg shooting at an absurd 70% from the field. Ike was constantly bullying his opposition by using his size, and footwork in the post. And in his senior year, he once again led the team in scoring, rebounding, and blocking once again. After those 2 strong seasons, Ike was finally recognized as a top 50 recruit in the nation, and eventually chose UCLA as his college of choice.

Once again Ike was overshadowed by fellow 5 star recruits such as Lonzo Ball, and TJ Leaf. Ike had to work his butt off once again to make a name for himself. His work ethic, and resiliency eventually earned him trust from the coaching staff, and he became an impact player for UCLA during his junior season, where he averaged 16 ppg, and 10 rpg while shooting an efficient 59% from the field. After an All American caliber season, he has decided to enter the CSL draft, where he was picked as the 27th overall pick by the Atlanta Hawks.

Ike would then be traded to the Boston Celtics, where once again he was stuck behind a bunch of more experienced/talented players on a stacked Celtics roster. Ike would eventually be traded away once again, this time to the Washington Wizards where he was buried behind veterans bigs such as Al Horford, Greg Monroe, and John Henson once again.

You would think that Ike would have given up by now, as he literally has been overlooked throughout his whole young basketball career. However, giving up was not a word that belongs in Ike's vocabulary. Ike remained patient, and was constantly asking for help from the veterans to improve his game, as he firmly believed he belongs in the CSL, and nothing will stop him from doing so. Ike was sent down to the D-League by the Wizards management team to refine his game, and it was where he put up amazing numbers once again, and has slowly earned GM Chan's attention. Following a stellar year in the D-League, GM Chan has decided to let go of his veterans bigs, and promoted Ike to the main roster. With fellow first round draft pick Ivan Rabb still rehabbing from his torn ACL injury, Ike finally has a chance to earn a starting job in this Wizards lineup. Once again Ike seized this golden opportunity, and has not looked back since then.

In 16 starts thus far for the Wizards, Ike has averaged 17.9 ppg, 9.8 rpg while shooting close to 55 % from the field. He has been an excellent sidekick next to all star guard Milos Teodosic, and after a slow start to the season where the Wizards fell to a 1-6 record, the team has been surging since then by going 7-2. Coach Brian Cardinal attributes to this recent surge to Ike's performance, as Ike has been consistently producing for his team when starters such as Bryce Cotton, Milos Teodosic, and Roy Devyn Marble were injured. Ike is certainly making a strong case to be the Most Improved Player of the year award, and as long as he stays healthy, then there's no doubt he can become a fixture for this Wizards franchise for years to come. Ike is still only 21 years old, and many can expect him to continue to improve his game, and perhaps take it to a potential all star level. Time will tell if Ike is the real deal, but for a 27th overall pick, Ike has certainly made a name for himself, and has become a big time fan favorite in the D.C area.

What shocks me the most is that he's putting up similar, almost better, numbers from his DLeague games to the now CSL games. I'm not sure about his potential, but as of right now he's been playing extremely well.

Yeah, he has pretty much replaced Greg Monroe's production for me from last year, except he's even more efficient.

Not a big Ike fan as his ratings aren’t very good but he’s definitely producing.

Yeah, he might not have the craziest ratings right now, but he is definitely performing.
