Daryl Morey v China

Going into the preseason, it would not have surprised me if someone told me that Morey would cause the biggest drama, but what surprises me is what the drama is about. Personally I applaud Morey for his stance and hope fellow NBA Coaches, GMs, and players make a stance not just on Hong Kong but also the atrocity in Western China. The NBA has been very progressive on other Social Issues and hopefully they do not let there checkbook hold them back from another one issue:

So the Chinese rape girls and do horrible things to them, then get mad when called out about it?

I don’t like getting into politics over a sim league board, so I won’t give out a full take. But as someone that was born, and raised in Hong Kong, there are lot of grey areas on both sides that the western media has not covered due to conflict of interest. It’s not as clear as what it seems on TV.

Ex: the Hong Kong protestors are literally beating up on innocent people that were in their way, or vandalizing any business that’s not in agreement with them. But chances are you won’t hear about that from the western media.

Well said.

That's the reason I choose to not have an opinion about that matter.
I was never in this area and I don't know many people from there first hand. If you just go with the media you are most certainly wrong informed.

Not being in the area shouldnt stop you from educating yourself on topics. There are so many resources now of days outside of traditional media.

No worry, I have my opinion and try to base it with multiple sources.
But I would not run around and voice my opinion about a topic I'm not directly involved. There are already enough people who are doing that.

People and bots. Lots and lots of bots miraculously appearing to support one “side” of this human rights discussion.

True, but I would say many people don't know what is true journalism and what is a confirmation biased "news" site. Personally if you claim to be conservative or liberal leaning I'm already mistrustful and most nontraditional news media is very slanted one way or another. I personally stick with services known for being in the middle such as the Guardian. I actually do take the time to check sources and if they are well regarded within the journalism profession though. I take a lot of pride in only commenting on things I've looked up on multiple sources and can be substantiated. People would be a lot nore well informed if they did.
