New DDS:PB 18 MP League Interest Check In

Post by Jestor »

Figured I'd start a separate thread to see who all would be interested in a DDS 18 MP league, as I think it's going to be way too much work to convert CSL over. I know I'm definitely in.

Possibly as long as it doesn't effect this league in any way

What are the timelines for release? What are the timelines for a more or less bug free version that can be used for a league?

I only saw a quick blog about it on Wolverine but not much else. Not even a screenshot...
Congrats to season 16 ASL champion SoulKey. For the Swarm!

They're in the beta testing phase, so I imagine it'll be out by sometime next month at the latest, given that status and Gary's traditional preference for releasing close to the start of the NBA regular season. Note: Don't take that as any indication of an official release date - it's purely my speculation.

It won't. There'd be different people running it for one.

Im pretty sure that Jon and Doug might be interested in converting if the engine is decent. So Im not sure if it makes sense to open up a second league.

I would be down if owning the game isn't required, and if it doesn't affect this league.

CSL remains the priority so I won't probably join. However, looking forward to see if the new version will be stable/bug free/realistic enough for solo game

17 is pretty good so 18 with defensive metrics gonna be awesome. There is a decent learning curve though compared to 3 especially on offense

I also played the 2017 version but find it buggy (various crash) and not fully accurate in the mode I was playing (Historical).

When it comes to MP, it could fit but it should be heavily tested. For example, read a comment this morning on WS saying that if your PG has 50%+ post up, he is guaranteed to score more than 30ppg despite low SCR ratings. Don't know if it is true, but if it is, it would imply issues difficult to control in a MP league.

this isn't the first time I've heard this- I think Dennis has mentioned this as well about 17. As you mentioned, I think any new game is going to have to be tested HARD by several people to look for quirks like these. But like we've done with DDS3, people are always going to find new quirks the longer we play.

I do think changing to 18 would be the best for the csl. I think it's only way to lure new guys. Also it helps to motivate the old ones as trying to figure out a new engine is always interesting. Dds18 will have some bugs, but dds3 has too
