BTW, I've simmed in both DDS3 and DDS18.

It is night and day comparison between the two. Simming in DDS18 is so easy that I was shocked first time I did it after all the nonsense you have to do in DDS3. Perhaps all that is the root cause behind the Simmer's challenges to upload our damn DCs.

Also, for the techies, DDS18 allows the DC files to be created directly in Simmers shared folder as soon as the GM clicks the button in the game - no more uploading and downloading.

Simmer time goes from whatever you spend simming in DDS3 to a fraction of that in 18.

Just thought was a good idea to mention it (and a way to vent some frustrations) :)
Congrats to season 16 ASL champion SoulKey. For the Swarm!

I know what you mean. The function is called FTP and is what is used in games like OOTP. I was in a DDS16 or 17 league and tried using the FTP option but it was broken. I went back and forth with Gary a few times but even he couldn't get it working correctly. I'm glad to see that it has been fixed for 18 because it really does make the simmer's life that much easier.

I’ve been in contact with Gary on the development of DDS19 and will have early access to the game, and the admin team has decided it is worth extensively testing to see if we should make the switch. Nothing has been decided yet except for that we are going to explore the idea.

Yeah to echo what Myles said, 19 looks like it has the potential to be significantly better than 18. We’ll see though once Myles gets his hands on it.

Very exciting news indeed! Correct me if I'm mistaken, but hasn't Gary added the ability to import leagues from an older engine to the newer one?

Yes, but it's not going to be able to import from 3 to 19 directly. Players have a different preference breakdown, so that's going to be the toughest part to import.

Yeah I figured that. Was it a feature that started from DDS17 --> 18 or 18 --> 19?

Pretty sure it began in either 16 or 17, it was definitely there prior to 18.

I have almost finished our league (GAH) conversion from the first version of the game to 18. It is a lot of work, because shot distribution is really hard to match. The scoring rating has less predominance, as now playing style and player location affect the number of shots a player takes. It's not straightforward at all.

Would you suggest we make the move to the newest engine?

I won't be able to answer that properly until we have simmed close to a season. All the tests are being performed in solo mode ... we have yet to see once all GM's tweak their strats, rotations, etc ... how the engine reacts. We will start the 1996-97 regular season by the end of this month (hopefully) so maybe by the end of the year I have an answer.

If Jordan wins it's a good engine.
